Well, I can't seem to write "Prelude to Dusk," because I can't decide how I want the story to progress, and I have horrible writer's block. This is just some pointless writing for some ideas that I had that may or may not actually happen in the story, but take place within the universe.

It's basically pointless, plotless mini-drabbles that I was using as a writing outlet.

While it may not mean anything to any of you...this may be my first step back onto the path of writing.
_____________

Bits and pieces scattered all about, simply fragments of a great picture, giving us no more than a glimpse of what truly is...

Keotsu wiped the sweat from his brow as he planted his back firmly against the gigantic stone pillar, his blade heavy in his hand. The behemoth was unfazed by the hours long battle that had been ensuing, and Keotsu was exhausted – steel and magic alike simply bounced of the beast’s scales.

He took his blade with a firm grasp, though, and said a prayer on to it. He had faced the likes of demons worse than this – this dragon would not best him. His blade erupted with a brilliant rainbow flame, casting glitter light about into the darkest regions of the cavern, revealing the beast’s black scales and its white eyes, drained of color from years of living in the darkness.

He flipped himself around the earthen pillar and rushed at the monster, holding his blade ready; when the ball of darkness was launched at him, Keotsu swung his blade, a gigantic wave of aurora being cast forth from his strike, destroying the ball; however, as the wave struck the dragon, it merely shrugged the magical blow off.

As expected.

The beast let loose a guttural roar, and Keotsu tried his tired-and-true tactic for beasts that were impervious from the outside; he leaped with all the force he could muster, into the dragon’s maw, aiming to destroy the demon from within…

-•••-

The two swordsmen moved by in a flash! Keotsu matched each blow, strike for strike, as they blitzed down the street, knocking aside pedestrians and merchandise stands all the same, each man moving in a blinding flourish; Keotsu bounded over a felled barrel and twisted in the air, pushing off the wall of the house so that he dove at the man with a quick, spinning strike.

The man rolled forward and leapt backwards, dodging the blow, as Keotsu pushed of the ground in a great bound, catching back up to the man.

A high horizontal strike from the left – parried for a stab to the chest; a quick movement to his right allowed Keotsu to dodge the strike.

The two men leapt from the rooftops they had suddenly found themselves on and landed elegantly in the central courtyard of the town, the residents having scattered as they saw the warriors leap off the buildings.

Keotsu flourished his blade with a flick of the wrist, as the man lazily taunted him with the rapier.

“This game’s gone on far too long. Tell me where the girl is,” Keotsu said, as he readied his sword.

“Then come young warrior; take that information from me.”

-•••-

The tavern was lively and brimming with spirit. A woman and her fiancé were elegantly dancing on the stage; her red dress flourished with each spin and dip, and the man’s quick foot work simply accented the performance. Musicians sat strewn about, strumming guitars, casting enticing tunes with flute, and harmonizing it all with a refined feel; with that beautiful string instrument that Keotsu was so focused on, that beautiful violin.

The blur of movement and constant action added to the feeling; it was a natural high just being in the energy. Even on as serious of a mission as he was on, Keotsu found himself grinning, brimming with joy and life.

Suddenly, a flash of green, and a soothing feeling came over him, as her eyes met his, and she – once again – reminded him of a fresh spring flower. She was smiling, enticed by the liveliness of the atmosphere.

“…this is the first time I’ve seen you smile in nearly three months,” she said, as she extended her hand to him. Though her plain white dress was not nearly as enticing as those of these locals, she was still beautiful.

“Same to you,” Keotsu replied, as the swordsman took her hand and begun to dance with her; the latin music was piercing his soul, and guiding him; warrior or no, the same spirit guided his feet, and his footwork was majestic, accenting her graceful movements in their dance.

“We should really...,” she started, when she realized what she had done.

“The relic won’t be going anywhere. Why not enjoy ourselves? I’ve no desire to leap back into the devil’s den so soon.”

She eyed his chest, noticing the silver band that still hung from that leather necklace, placed ceremoniously near his heart. He was starting to remember his past.

Could she heal those wounds, which afflicted his mind and soul? Could she make him hurt no longer?

-•••-
He scratched notes reverently, straining his eyes to see in the dimming light; he couldn’t tear himself away from his research long enough to relight the candle. If he was right…

No, no room for assumptions. How long had he been at this now? Nearly two days straight? He couldn’t remember if he had even eaten.

But, tied with is knowledge of lost events of the past, and the wisdom held within the tomes within this library, he had to know if he was right.

If what they were doing would really lead to the outcome he was thinking it would.

He opened the observatory doors as he checked his celestial charts, along with the various locations of the relics. He connected the locations of the stars in the sky, along with the marking the location of each relic he had come across.

He knew each location. He had BEEN there when those relics were created, long, long ago.

If he really was there, and the events he had partaken in where the ones responsible for the power the relics held…

Then gathering the relics as they were doing now…

Could it be?

Thank you! I've not written anything in nearly two years. But, I miss it so much. I have a story I want to tell, but I'm not even sure how the story goes yet. I just want to keep writing...but I have to beat this infernal writer's block first. >_< Thanks for you comment! ^_^

...I actually used to be. =/ Long ago, I was one of the higher up's in the FF community. *Points to my several FF contest medals from long ago.*

I've fallen from a great height. But, more than that, I just miss writing.

But, when you have writer's block, it's hard to overcome.
