We’ve just upgraded the forums to a much newer version! It’s not the final stage yet, but this update already unlocks the tools we need to bring back some of the things everyone liked so much, customization for usernames, profiles, and more. Step by step we’ll be able to shape the forums together into something that feels like home again.

What’s new that you’ll notice right away:

New post editor
Cleaner, smoother, and easier to use. You can even preview posts directly while writing.

Auto-saved drafts
Your text is now saved every time you stop typing. No more losing long RP bios or theory posts because of a crash or timeout. In the new editor, you’ll see a green dot on the disk icon whenever your draft is being saved for you.

Profile banners
You can add a banner image to your profile for extra flair, this will be placed behind your username and avatar.

Article thread type
Threads can now be formatted like blog-style articles, opening the door for guides, RP lore posts, and creative showcases. It's really nice, with Question for example, people can vote up replies who gave the best answer.

We've enabled this in Chatterbox and the RP section for you to try it out. Let us know where you want these thread types enabled.

This is just the start. This upgrade was needed for much more new addons coming.
More will follow as we build up customization, events, and community tools.

I love the username customisation 😊 and I can't wait to sort out my banner.

As far as username customisation goes, will there be a way to differentiate between mods/admins and regular members, especially if those members colour their usernames to match a mod or admin?

Perhaps a special symbol specific to mods and Admins are needed?

This is not required as people can simply go to the site leaders page to find the staff. There is no need to distinguish staff using colour names. Plus I think there is a way to show the currently online staff on the main forum page.

We all have specific banners under our usernames like Moderator, Admin, Founder, etc while yours will say Premium. That makes it a lot easier to figure out

Yes, Im not saying its difficult to figurs out but I was thinking from a new member perspective. Although you and Rohan are right it shouldn't be too hard for people to figure out

They can add the setting where a welcome Pm on registration will be sent and there will be a link to the site leaders page in the pm.

My personal opinion

The inline and glow Animated effects need to be restricted and toned down. It just makes the forum look uncomfortable to look at. I found the animated glow to be very uncomfortable. So I disabled it. But I do not see any option to disable the inline animations. The sparkles are fine as they are very small animations.

Edit: I know I might regret this later and get some hate but I think Premiums should only have access to glow colours (without the animations), Icons and font styles. This is what I originally intended with my suggestion.

This will make the forum look clean and no one can pretend to be a staff member by copying the staff colour username. Just look at what I have done with my red name. I think the concerns that other members posted are valid.

The full access to username styling should only be given for special forum occassions. If the plugin stays the way it is, I think the forum will look very messy if we get a lot of active users later.

Any sort of animations in usernames needs to go. On pc they are not very noticable but on phones they are very noticable and makes the experience uncomfortable. I think a majority of users would use this site through phone and imo the experience will not be pleasant.
