Case and point last chapter. Doesn't give Sakura the time of day and heads off to the battlefield, but has 0 qualms holding Hinata's hand and thanking for staying at his side while facing down the Juubi LOL. And now the sun symbolism while Hinata means "place in the sun". All the pieces are there.
