They don't need to communicate with each other to find him, they can just track him by merging with the earth's root system, like how Zetsu found where they are hiding the Daimyo. He mentioned that he is the earth itself and that no one one earth can hide from him. Also, I'm pretty sure that Madara can track black Zetsu somehow, it's his own will for pete's sake, it would be plot no jutsu if he couldn't in my opinion
