Following the Rules

Do you enjoy following the rules? Not on NB, but in the real world. I personally fell like rules are like rails down your path in life. Like they help you find the way you want to go in life. Personally, I don't like rules. I'm the rebellious type, so I don't usually side with the majority. I'm not saying I hate laws, but some keep us from being ourselves a little. I think that people should be able to make their own choices. Although, I do know that there are some people with certain "ideas" of certain things, and that they do need those rules to keep them from doing something stupid. There are some people who can't be trusted with free reign of their life. But still,I hate the idea of control, that's just me. I like to feel like I have free reign of my life, and I'm ready to take any consequences for my actions.

How do you feel about this?

Without rules, we wouldn't have humanity. We'd still be eating bananas and picking each others backs for fleas.

Regardless of anyones juvenile notions, rules and guidelines exist to protect communities and allow them to function properly. They are needed and cannot be ignored or bypassed. Without rules, you have no order. Without order, you have chaos. With chaos, you have nothing.

Its quite simple. And when you grow up, and you all will hopefully, you'll see that you must follow rules to actually be someone in life. Thats how you advance in a society and in life.


PS- All of this assuming that the rules don't break the basic principles of human rights, individuality, well being, etc.

Depends on the specific law. Some are important to follow, like the basic traffic rules. Not a single ****ing Indian in my city follows the traffic rules. Other rules which try to control a human too much, are meant to be broken. I follow the basic rules and courtesy, but not shitty rules.

In my opinion, laws need to exist.

Laws exist to protect the rights of the members of a society and to ensure that they do not have to protect those rights through their own actions. Philosophers like John Locke argued that without laws, human societies would be brutal places. They argued that a society without laws would be one in which individual people only had as many rights as they could protect. In other words, you only had the right to life if you could keep others from killing you and you only had the right to your property if you could keep others from stealing it.

Locke says that societies devised laws and governments as a way to get themselves out of this state of nature. The people would give up some of their rights to the government. In return, the government would protect their major rights like life, liberty and property.

In this view, laws exist in order to protect our most fundamental human rights. Because we have laws and ways to enforce them, we all have rights even if we would be too weak to protect those rights in a state of nature.​
