i can reason with this

you are getting both rain (good for crops) and sunshine (good for grass, ergo sheep), which means all sides of natural life (in the form of farming, here) are being served or all sides of life (needs in the form of rain for crops and wants in the form of enjoyable sunshine) are being served with perfect balance (neither the rain nor the heat will be too much as their sources are sharing the sky), thus it is fitting that even the likes of jackals are having it good on such a prosperous day.

Interesting theory.

I looked it up before and search results showed similar stories are said across the world in many cultures. Just the animal changes:

Afrikaans / South Africa: "Jakkals trou met wolf se vrou" (The jackal marries the wolf's wife) or a "monkey's wedding" (umshado wezinkawu in Zulu).
India: "The sun is shining, it's raining — the jackal is getting married.
Japan: Kitsune no Yomeiri or the "fox's wedding".
Bulgaria: Bear is getting married,
Koreans: Tiger is getting married.

Also, if you dont mind, are your ancestors Sotho or Zulu?

Ah, now it makes sense. I didn't see the initial sentence earlier. It probably got scrolled up and I only noticed the quote and question.
say, with the diversity of the subcontinent, do you not have it that some tribes are closer related to outsiders (mid/far easters) than to everyone else in the country? what of this so far, if so?

Eh? The context? There is no such thing as closer related to outsiders. India borders with Tibet/China in north, Myanmar on the East and on the west side, it bordered with Afghanistan( further west before Pakistan was created). People from the western side won't be ethnically closer to the eastern tribes with thousands of miles in between. Populations are shaped by centuries of migration and geography both.

There are Parsies (Persian Zoroastrian), Syrian Christians ( From Syriac), and even Jews . ( ironically all three refugee groups who persecuted each other at one point, landed in India escaping each other)

We have central Asian migrant groups as well as an ethnic minority group of largely Bantu and East African descent whose ancestors arrived in the Indian subcontinent starting around the 7th century and since. A lot of people wouldn't even notice their ethnicity, until their dance and music comes up.

Ahom dynasty was started by a Tai prince from Mang Mao in Assam. While Bengal that's right next to it had an Abyssinian dynasty started by Shahzada Barabak.

And so on.

surely those near the border with Pakistan are closer in bloodline to Pakistanis instead of Tamils, is what i meant.

but it sounds like ethnic differences arent much of an issue. yes?

Well.. They do have a token population of Tamils. :devilish:
States like Punjab, Gujarat etc are on both sides of border so of course there are common ethnic groups.

For the rest, you have to ask Pakistanies. Every second week some of them may claim to be Arabs and on fourth, they may claim to be Turks. On first and third, they may claim to be Persians or central Asians. It's national language is Urdu that evolved directly from Khari Boli, ( vernacular dialect of Hindi) spoken in the Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh, and Awadh regions. None of these areas are in Pakistan. Basically they heavily borrow words from middle eastern languagges, while grammar and syntax remains that of Khari boli and then call it Urdu and of course they chose Perso-Arabic script for it.

Ethnic differences issues- Context matters. + Not much of an issue if you can keep regional politicians with no base outside of their region and proselytizers away and that include far left proselytizers. Conflict arises when such groups actively highlight and exploit differences to recruit members, expand their ideology or build a power base of their own. More so when they get substential funding for this cause along side their personal ambitions. Then they will start conflicts even if they have to create one from the scratch or imaginary.

For example commuinsts Left likes to make a hero of Ravana who is a villain in story of Ramayana. All in name of Dravidian politics. Just a few days ago someone again started a post about a North Indian king Rama attacking Dravidian King Ravana and what not. Something similar went viral last year too.

Only problem: Ravana was not south Indian ethnicity either. He was said to be a son of the Brahmin sage Vishrava born in Bisrakh, a village located in present-day Greater Noida (near Delhi), Uttar Pradesh. The village itself is named after his father, Vishrava, and to this day, the residents of Bisrakh do not celebrate Dussehra or burn effigies of Ravana, viewing him instead as a son of the soil.

His mother was princess Kaikesi, who belonged to the Asura group. Now we can not link Asura in to any particular ethnicity since the word is used for a class of beings in Indian context. But the word root is Indo Iranian- Whatever Ravana was, he was not Dravidian. But that's identity politics for you.

This type of drama is British adiministrative and missionary politics legacy. And then communists took over.
