FMA, when it comes to anime.
Naruto, when it comes to manga.

Full Metal Alchemist is my favorite Anime of all time. Nothing is ever going to top it.

Full Metal Alchemist is better but I dont think its fair to compare a long series like Naruto to a short one like FMA

Naruto was decent at one point and I like talking about it.

You mean you like talking out of your arse about it lols.

I'm going to have to go with FMA brotherhood being the better series. It's story and characters are very inspired and original. Naruto started out like fma but I believe it degraded a bit in part 2 due to over editing and the mangaka's character bias.

It wasn't exactly short. It lasted for 9 years. If it was a weekly manga it would probably be as long as Naruto.

Brotherhood for sure. Even the other FMA was better for me towards the end too.

I have mostly heard only good things about FMA and it is on my list to read. We used to have it's own forum along with OP and Bleach till 2012 I think.

Short series are often better since they are better planned and they finish at their peak with fewers arcs. So in the end it depends what elements you were looking for and and how long a series was. Not all arcs would be as great as others in longer ones.

It wasn't exactly short. It lasted for 9 years. If it was a weekly manga it would probably be as long as Naruto.

Except that it wasn't weekly. How many chapters per year? It says 108 in all.

If weekly it would have either finished too early or would be stretching the same story for 700 chapters somehow that's no guarantee to keep the plot tight or story that impressive. The writer finished it when she wanted to finish it.

I did some quick calculations and it appears of have been released roughly fortnightly, so that's like 26 chapters a year, likely a bit less to include some holidays and such.

Yeah. The music of some of the FMA games was just awesome. But that was so 2007-09(?? long time back) when I heard that last.. Somehow I never got around to read it and keep getting distracted since I like to catch up in one go and I don't have time for it right now.

But comparions like this are seriouly unfair and unbalanced. Any series should be judged on it's own merits and demerits only.
