How can you tell whether Jap or American is better? They're both different kinds of music and you can't really differentiate them on a 'which is better' basis.

However, since another question here was 'what do you think of them', I do actually enjoy Flow a lot, and I think the riffs in some of their songs are amazing ^^

wasnt the last code geass-opening from them? a great song. however, there are also songs like "fighting dreamers" i dont like so much.
i wouldn't generalize, i dislike the typical american pop or country song, but we also had good songs from america. i think that's the way it is with every country. japanese songs doesnt seem to be so standardized, but that may be just an impression i have.

As already stated you can't really compare music from 2 different countries since it all comes down to personal taste and what each invidivual likes. It would be like comparing the US to the E.U.(One is a country, while the other is made up of several member countries with a different style of goverment, currency, healthcare, economy,etc..) Flow is a good band that is no surprise, you also realize that most mainstream japanese music is vastly different from mainstream American music. So in the end it really all comes down to what you like yourself, since everyone has different music tastes. I mean you would most likely hear more Rap in the US than in Japan, whereas Japan probably has more techno, pop, etc.. while the best of American music is back from the 70's-90's.

You can't really compare Japanese and American Music. =/ It's based on personal preference. Though I hate how some American music listeners think that Japanese music is stupid or lame just because they don't understand it. @ssholes. >_>'

FLOW is a really good group in my opinion, and they have awesome songs :D

Yeah i agree i have met Americans with that sentiment though it is not only American listeners, i know people from Europe, and South America that don't enjoy Japanese music and think it is stupid or lame.

While it is a shame they are missing out, that doesn't warrant you calling them @ssholes, since everyone has a different taste in music and not everyone is gonna like Japanese music or American music vice-versa.
