Make sure they open a new needle when you go in there. Watch them open it. Often tattoo parlors will sterilize their needles in this incubator thing, which is the same thing they use in hospitals. However, people who work in tattoo parlors are not always qualified to operate that technology so just play it safe and make sure they're using a new needle.

Make sure they're using fresh ink. Bits of skin and blood get in the ink when you tattoo someone, so even if the well of ink is almost full, you're going to want fresh ink.

Of course, make sure they're wearing gloves.

Check out the artist's previous work. Make sure you're going to an artist who has the skill for the kind of tattoo you want. Some tattoo artists have very clean line work, some are good at portraits, some are good at cartoonish work.

And think about it. This will be on skin your forever. It will age as you age. It may fade. Make sure it's something you won't regret.

I have three, all are fairly big. First, the pain isn't as bad as ppl make it seem. The only one the was painful wasy ribcage tat. Seeing as you want it on your arm it shouldn't be too bad.

Since you have no clue of what you want, make it something relative to your life. For starters, a brithdate in roman numerals. It sounds simply, but looks great depending on the artist.

Or you can try a quote, something that stood out to you that u felt was dope. Those dragons are kinda blah and later you might be why the fukk did i get this lol.

The first week after the tattoo is the most inportant one...you will have to wash it a lot and keep it clean and wrapped with plastic foil at least the first three days, when the wound is fresh... you can clean it as much as you want and afterwards but at thin layer of bepanthol, to help the scaring process... dont scratch it or touch it with dirty hand the first days it may cause an inffection and mess up your tattoo.
