This theory thread will be about the Rinnegan, abit about the: Sharingan, Uchiha, Senju/Uzumaki, The Sage of the Six Paths and the Juubi.
But mainly about the Rinnegan and how it emerges in people other than the Sage. Such as Nagato.
Before i begin, i will say that not all of what i say can be proven 100% but i will estabilish my theory to the best of my ability. With links to sources and information when relevant. And remember, this wouldnt be a theory if it was completely fact.
And please dont post if you just have something nasty to say. Friendly debate, against this or supporting this is all good though.
The Rinnegan, origionally possessed by the Sage of the Six Paths. And is considered the ultimate Dou'Jutsu.
Weather the Sage obtained the Rinnegan on his own. Or by becoming the Juubi's host is unknown, but the amount of information we have to go on, in my view, supports the second. Since the ripple Patern is exactly the same as the Juubi's eye, apart from the Juubi's pattern also has Sharingan like tomoe's added.
And considering the Juubi was defeated by simply a powerful Sealing Jutsu.
Which also suggests a connection between the Sharingan and the Rinnegan. Supporting that also is the fact that its the Sharingan and Rinnegan that can read the inscriptions on the stone tablet that the sage wrote.
And considering the Sage used the Juubi's power in a controlled Jinchuuriki form. And his eye's are shown as a purple ripple pattern. But if the Juubi's essence was with the Chakra. It would be a red ripple tomoe eye.
Similar to how Naruto in a Controlled Jinchuuriki form has orange circle pupil eye's. But if the Kyuubi's essence is with the Chakra. He would have red slit pupil eye's.
Madara also stated that the Sage gained his in-human power by becoming the Juubi Jinchuuriki. And whenever someone refers to the sage. Half the time their talking about the Rinnegan. Put them together, and well, you get the idea.
Overall most things support the idea of the Sage gaining most of his powers along with the Rinnegan that way.
And by gaining such immense power as his own by being this Jinchuuriki. Some of his traits were passed down to the two sons. The Uchiha *elder* anscestor and The Senju/Uzumaki *younger* anscestor.
The Sage's Eyes to the elder. And powerfull spiritual chakra.
The Sage's Body to the Younger. And powerfull physical chakra.

Although despite gifting the elder his eyes. The elder nor his descendants possessed the Rinnegan. (but a lessor Rinnegan.)
The elder sons eyes in his decendants eventually became the Sharingan. Which is distinguishibly different from the Rinnegan in appearance and in its traits. Being red in colour. And having Tomoe's similar to the Juubi. Unlike the eyes the Sage gained (Rinnegan) by becoming the beast's Jinchuuriki.
Which leads me to believe that the Juubi inside the Sage passed on some of its sinister essence/will into the elder son's eyes. And this curruption has been passed down through time, into the Uchiha clan.
And it is why the Mangekyou Sharingan abilities are very different to the Rinnegan abilities. And how Susanoo is shown to be currupting and dark. These pages support this.
And considering the Juubi's essence, is linked to the tomoe's. And considering the Mangekyou, is a fusion of the Tomoe's. Further suggests that connection.
Along with Sasuke later on, when using his Sharingan powers. Was later compared and considered similar to the Kyuubi's chakra.
I believe it too be rather obvious that she is comparing The kyuubi's chakra inside Naruto to Sasuke's. Considering how not long ago she couldnt stop saying how cold and dark Sasuke's chakra was when using the powers of the Sharingan. Heightening his own dark emotions.
Back on to the Rinnegan. It has only since been seen in an Uzumaki which is a decendant of the younger son since the time of the Sage.
The Rinnegan was the Sages signiture power. And elements of the Sages power were passed on to his sons.
What I believe is. The Uchiha ancestor received part of what creats the Rinnegan, he inherited the eyes, but he did not inherit his body aswell.
And this is because the Rinnegan is not the eyes alone. But a combination of Eyes and Body working together. A combination of powerful Yin and Yang chakra's.
"Two clans, Two bloodlines in one person."
But without the *essence* of the Juubi. Hence the lack of Tomoe's, and the red colour. Which as said. Later manifested itself in the Sharingan.
