APPEARANCEShunsui Kyraku is a tall, fair-skinned Shinigami with prominent cheekbones, grey eyes, and long, wavy brown hair. His hair is pulled back in a long ponytail, with long bangs framing the left side of his face. He also has a lot of body hair on his chest, feet, and arms. He's dressed in a Sugegasa straw hat and a pink, flowered lady's kimono that he drapes over his shoulders and his captain's uniform. His pin-wheel hairpins are very expensive, even though his haori and obi sash are inexpensive. He does not pair his sandals with tabi. He has fine facial hair on his cheeks and around his mouth.
Shunsui wears an eyepatch over his right eye, which was damaged during the battle with the Wandenreich. With a scar along with his right temple, the top half of his right ear has been sliced off at a slight angle.
PERSONALITYShunsui is a laid-back and flamboyant man, as evidenced by his clothing and general demeanor, and he is always smiling. In his spare time, he enjoys drinking sake in bars and napping. He enjoys steamed buns with sake but despises powdered green tea. At times, he enjoys pursuing women, particularly his lieutenant, Nanao Ise, whom he refers to as "my Nanao-chan," and his former lieutenant, Lisa Yadmaru. Shunsui's speech style is more casual than that of many other captains. He usually addresses his fellow captains and Shinigami by their first names, followed by an honorific.
Shunsui is a peaceful man who will always try to talk his way out of a fight, even though he does not want to offend opponents by refusing to fight. He despises fighting, telling Love Aikawa that "it doesn't matter whether you owe someone or they owe you; as soon as you start fighting, you're in the wrong in either case." Shunsui, who is slightly eccentric, also appears to enjoy making an impression on opponents.
Despite his attempts to talk himself out of a fight, Shunsui will fight if the situation demands it. When in battle, Shunsui maintains a high level of honor and integrity. He refuses to fight with or in the presence of children. He also dislikes killing innocent people, as evidenced by the fact that he left Chad alive when Nanao offered to kill him. He always wears a mask of respect for his opponent, is courteous in combat, and prefers to fight one on one. Shunsui rarely loses his cool when fighting powerful opponents, even going so far as to make small talk and joke around with them.
Despite being one of the strongest and oldest captains, Shunsui maintains a sense of humility and is not overconfident in his abilities, acknowledging that Tōshirō Hitsugaya has the potential to become stronger than himself given enough time.
Shunsui, on the other hand, feels a great deal of guilt for the misfortunes that have befallen those close to him, such as the death of his brother and the execution of Nanao's mother, and considers it a burden too great for him to bear alone.

You are capable of using one element with 20 more damage than normally. This counts as one of the two allowed boosts a technique can have. This cannot be combined with other Damage Specialties.
- Apex Handseal Specialist: Wind
You can perform techniques of the skill you chose to specialize in without the usage of handseals, though you must still perform complementary and logical body movements related to the technique. This applies even if said jutsu does not have specific movements detailed in its description.

BACKGROUND INFORMATIONHISTORY: Shunsui is a member of the Nara family. While Shunsui was still a young boy, his older brother married the head of the Kyōraku Family who would eventually become Nanao Ise's mother. Though Shunsui and his brother did not get along, living with his brother became more comfortable, and Shunsui would visit him often. At one point, Shunsui found his brother receiving a hairpin from Nanao's mother and noted that he has mellowed out in his old age, only to be informed that this was the kindness of Nanao's mother at work. After his brother died, during which he was entrusted with hairpins that formerly belonged to Nanao's mother, Shunsui was entrusted with the sword of the Ise family by his brother's widow and hid the weapon. Shunsui was assured by Nanao's mother that he would not suffer from carrying Shinken Hakkyōken and that he was the only one outside of her own family whom she could trust.
Despite being of such an old and prestigious lineage, he disliked studying and training and preferred to chase the ladies, although being told by Captain-Commander Yamamoto that he was able to see the truth and was wise for his age. Because of this, he was sent against his will to the Ninja Academy. At some point in Shunsui's Academy days, Shunsui trespassed into Yamamoto's room. After being chastised by Yamamoto, he asked about the painting in his room, and Yamamoto replies that it was a monster that caused strife when it was around. While there, he came to know Jūshirō Ukitake, who would become his best friend and fellow captain. Along with Jūshirō Ukitake, he was one of the first genin to become a captain jounin through the ninja Academy. Furthermore, he was personally trained by Yamamoto. He and Ukitake are the oldest captains among the Gotei 13, except for Retsu Unohana and Yamamoto himself. It was stated that the four of them have been captains of the Gotei 13 for at least 20 years.
At some point during his academy days, Shunsui was informed by Ukitake that Nanao's mother had been executed for losing one of the cared treasures, which prompted him to admit that he preferred to learn of such things sooner rather than later.
10 years ago he had a unique relationship with his Lieutenant Lisa Yadōmaru: in contrast to his relationship with his current Lieutenant Nanao Ise, Lisa was more outgoing and perverted in a way much like his own personality, but he found that his position required him to be the "adult" in the situation. He was also the first to casually mention, to a curious Lieutenant Sōsuke Aizen, that the previous 12th Division captain was promoted to the Royal Guard. He was also present at the promotion ceremony of the newly appointed 12th Division Captain Kisuke Urahara.
9 years later, Shunsui was present at an emergency meeting called by Captain-Commander Yamamoto. He decided to create an investigative team to locate the missing 9th Division squad members. When he gave out the orders, Yamamoto ordered Shunsui to guard the Seireitei. When Yamamoto decided to send both Kidō Captain Tessai Tsukabishi and Kidō Lieutenant Hachigen Ushōda of the Kidō Corps, Shunsui instead advised him to send only Hachi and replaced Tessai with his lieutenant, Lisa. He tried to cheer up a shaken Kisuke Urahara, telling him not to worry about his lieutenant, Hiyori Sarugaki, who was sent to help the 9th Division, because she was strong, though not as strong as Lisa.
During his time on guard, he met up with some squad members that were also on guard and congratulated them for keeping watch on the Seireitei. He also noticed Lieutenant Sōsuke Aizen taking a night walk, muttering to himself that he was maybe over-thinking things before leaving. Later in his barracks, he was addressed by a very young Nanao Ise, who had come to see his lieutenant, Lisa Yadōmaru. Shunsui then remembered that Nanao always came to him around the first of every month to have Lisa read to her. Nanao confirmed this, only to be told that Lisa was away on a mission, but would be back soon. Soon afterward, Shunsui changed his attire by removing his hairpins and switching his kimono. He was present to greet newly-inducted members of the 8th Division, whom he informed that he was cordial toward young ladies and indifferent toward men.

Description: The Shinobi Gauntlet (忍小手, Shinobigote), often shortened to just Gauntlet (小手, Kote), is a scientific ninja tool that is worn on the forearm. The Gauntlet was developed as a way to allow anyone to use complicated jutsu without the need for training or the requisite skills.To use, Scroll Cartridges that have had jutsu sealed into them are loaded into the Gauntlet's chamber. At first appearing as a normal sealing scroll, upon absorbing a technique it shrinks down to the size similar to a real bullet and can then be loaded into a tool to be activated later. When a nature transformation technique is activated from a Scroll Cartridge, the user make a unique single handed hand seal corresponding to the intended jutsu's nature using the hand of the arm that the Gauntlet is worn on. This causes the Gauntlet to release the jutsu from its Scroll Cartridge, firing it wherever the Gauntlet is aimed. Because the Gauntlet's jutsu require no chakra to perform, the user can gain an advantage in battle by releasing what would normally be chakra-taxing techniques in quick succession.

Description: A cyborg attachment to the user's body, the user has a robotic limb that allows for him to create spheres of energy that are capable of absorbing chakra up to S rank level. These spheres are capable of dealing brute force on impact as well, growing to large heights, up to 4 meters in radius. Starting at roughly rasengan size, these spheres grow proportionally to the size of the technique absorbed. Normal Ninja are able to make use of one of these devices via specialized gloves that allow them to absorb 1 Ninjutsu per turn up to S rank while Cyborgs have these attachments and are able to absorb up to Forbidden powered attacks and 1 from each arm per turn.

Sage Mode: An incomplete state called Imperfect Sage Mode, in which the user attains animalistic characters. Users of the Snake variation gain scales, horns, and brille protecting their eyes from visual attacks (such as flash bombs), dust, and debris as well as genjutsu cast through eye contact.

Description: An empowered state of body achieved by blending natural energy with one’s physical and spiritual energy. The mode heightens performance on all levels by adding a new dimension of power to the user’s chakra. The state is a direct result of Senjutsu chakra circulating through the body. To enter this form, a minimum of 10% of the user’s maximum chakra reserve must be moulded into Senjutsu chakra, all subsequent techniques employ Senjutsu chakra until the minimum cost (-10/turn) cannot be paid to sustain the mode. The user is resistant to damage, reducing 20 damage from all techniques for the duration of this technique. The user is able to passively sense chakra and his/her perception and reflexes are enhanced. Their ninjutsu and strength increases, empowering taijutsu and other close range physical combat techniques by +20. Additionally, the user is able to break out of Genjutsu, using Genjutsu release technique one rank lower than what he would normally be required to. Lastly, the user gains access to snake anatomy and other physical feats granted by Sage mode.
Note: Usable twice per battle . Must wait 2 turns before using this technique again. Perfect Sages can use either perfect or imperfect form thrice with a delay of 1 turn between modes.
