My argument: I have no idea. Ace is highly underrated because we didn't see much from him.

No, your reasoning is actually off. It seems that when a commander dies, a member of that division fills in the spot.

O: Ok, I'll explain a little about the Whitebeard Pirates. First, captain Whitebeard and the 16 commanders. All 16 commanders, despite numbers and ages have the same rank. All the same. Whitebeard Pirates are just split in 16 groups and the division number does not indicate strength.

As for the fight, itself, I'd personally go with Jozu. By real world standards, diamonds burn at 600 to 800°C.
At the same time, if Ace's fires were particularly powerful, Teach would've suffered a lot worse when he fought him.
Really, Jozu has shown that he's got both power and remarkable speed, at least enough so to really mess with Crocodile.

I don't really see Ace being able to tank too many of Jozu's blows.​

Seriously? My post, which you should've seen, dismissed this entire notion of numbers signifying power.

As much as Teach took and death some blows, Jozu would've done a much better job in both departments.​

I wonder if using Haki will enable you to damage Diamond Jozu, it should, but I would still say he has the upper hand, as fire wont hurt him in any manner. But Ace was 2nd commander? And Jozu was 3rd if I remember correctly. So they are probably about equals.

Again watch Captain hook's post about that matter. To our knowledge Ace didn't had haki so I don't know how he would hurt Jozu, Jozu was fighting Aokiji and managed to it him hard, Croco-boy said he was strong and fast so Jozu takes out Ace mid-diff probably.

Ace did have emperors Haki though...

The other 2 Haki's can be mastered by anyone with proper training. So the question just is, if he had mastered them. Besides, if you have a logia type fruit, you would obviously rely more on it, and thus Ace might not feel he needed Color of Arms Haki much.

Besides, even diamond can be melted by the proper heat.

Yeah but Ace din't master anything, if he really ha haki he would've used it agaisnt Blackbeard or even in the fight agaisnt Smoker, and besides Jozu is more expericenced than Ace, and we can't know if Ace's fire is hot enough to melt Jozu's diamond, but the fact that Jozu has haki and Ace doesn't plays a huge factor here.
