and wow...just wow. that was the most boring lifeless generic piles of garbage in recent memory. that was piss awful.
now for my reasons why:
1. it took itself too seriously. guys...your movie is about robots fighitng aliens! how can you make this a serious drama! this isnt requiem for a dream. this isnt john Q. if your gonna make transformers but with godzillas added in then make that movie!
2. the action was cool to watch...for the first few minutes. how exciting can you make the same fighting and same weapons be? its just alien godzilla bites and swipes.robot punches and slashes. and thats it. rinse and repeat. ive already seen giant robots fight in live action. and it was dull and lifeless there too. you cant tell who is in which robot, you dont care about the generic godzilla bad guys, and like i said, they tried to make it a fukin serious drama when these people die! guys! this isnt downfall! you cannot make us care about these fodder pilots!
3. characters:
speaking of fodder, this entire movie consists of fodder. characters? there arent any. i didnt give two flying cockfuks about ANYONE. the main character is the most no-personality, boring, dull, generic empty vessel ive seen in any major movie this year. i mean we know nothing about this guy except he likes to fight and is depressed about his dead brother.
the funny part is when you see these guys die and the movie expects you to care. guys, no one had any real traits or likes or dislikes or backstory. oh yeah the dad and son have issues and the general saved the main girl once. no one cares. if your gonna make us care, show some shit. show us why this generic soldier is different from average joe number 9991.
4. cheesy hoky generic boring plot. ive never seen such attempts to make you cry in a movie filled with lifeless boring fodders in all my life. empty vessels piloting giant bots that we've all seen before in other shit, fighting generic CGI monsters that computer programmers crapped out one day. no one is buying this. no one cares about this. you can pretty it all up but in the end its just that. nothing fighting nothing. what a waste of time. if they had taken the less serious route maybe this could have ended up a decent time. as it stands its just annoying. everyone in this movie is ANNOYING. most of all those two science geeks and ron perlman's mobster who has nothing to contribute and has the monster pointlessly come back to life to pointlessly eat him then pointlessly die again. go fuk yourself writers.
they had to nerve the steal the "manually detonate the nuke" scene from armageddon and the dumb "people think the hero is dead but surprise your just hugging him too tight" cheesy crap.
oh you thought he was dead? you thought you paid to see an intelligent movie that engages you with thrilling intense plotting and tight character development? sillly audience! you stupid motherfukers!
**** you in the fukin neck. you actors and writers should be ashamed of yourselves. i want my 2 hours of time back. write a movie next time.
