People are getting excited over villains who have no purpose bar handed out power ups and are hungry for power ups themselves.

I think they are actually weak villains. They are too broad. Villains are supposedly to have a role to which counteract the protagonist. Their goal is that. It does not directly contradict the protagonists' goals. It was more like a side line conflict borne from a skewed prospective. They just didn't see eye to eye. To the space vampires, they are merely cattle. To the shinobis, they think they are there to bring forth their extinction.

Both are in the wrong but both are not in the right for the difference of opinions. They see the space vampires as intruders while the aliens see them as food.

Both sides mean to survive. They really do not counter act each other in terms of goals. They have the SAME goal, which is to survive.
