Very close match, it could have gone the other way easily. Superb performance by the Australians (dat Leckie). I think this will help the dutch to calm their tits after the 1st round win. The fans actually, because I think the players and coach are well aware of their problems in defense.

This is exactly the type of victory Netherlands needed. One where they played averagely, defended with mediocrity, fought with sweat and resource, underwent tactic modification and still managed to make a comeback and win through individual brilliance.

Psychologically, this will boost them that they can both win against the strongest favorites like Spain through teamplay and tactical coherence as well as highly-spirited underdogs like Australia through luck and talent. This win will also give them much-needed confidence but altogether put all players who were still too much on cloud nine after Spain's victory back to Earth. Also, players who did not perform up to their level like Sneijder and especially De Guzman will surely be forced to step up, considering Van Gaal's nature.

Australia vs Netherlands was an awesome match, netherlands 5-3-2 works well against teams like spain, but for teams like australia 4-4-2 would be better.
As for Australia if they play like this against spain, they might qualify.

I too don't want spain to win this world cup, i want them either to win the match or draw the match against chile so this group goes till the end.
World Cup should be won by the best team which imho Spain is not, moreover if they win this time or even go to the semi-finals that would mask many major problems in their squad, which will only be rectified if either they lose in quarter finals or the group stages, them winning it again would be unfair to many other better teams.
This thing transitional change happened with Barcelona when Van gaal was their coach, they improved, this should happen with spain
