I'm rooting for my home country of course: Belgium.

We're already glad we finally made it again to the finals, however with the quality we have now and the group we are in, making it to the 16th finals is a must, no excuses. We have got the 6th most expensive team present on the WC, so not being able to finish 1st or 2nd in our group would be the same as Spain, Germany or Brasil failing to qualify for the knock-out stages.

We aren't cocky enough though to proclaim ourselves as a potential champion, however we don't have to fear any team either. We could be considered a very dark horse, but the same applies to Chile, Colombia and Japan who all brought some high-quality teams.

Yeah, i thought the same, Belgium has a nice team and a nice chemistry.
So, it's a must for it to qualify.
Uruguay has a nice team too, but not a nice combination among the players.
P.S
I wouldn't be surprised if Italy would not make it to the 16th !!!

There aren't any excuses if you fail to make it to the next round when you have such a large amount of quality in your team and you are playing against Algeria, Russia and South Korea. Neither of them weak teams of course, but none of them are either real big teams. On paper we are even the weakest group. What happens after the first round is a bonus, though we are secretly hoping of course for a stunt or two. Normally Portugal or Germany awaits in the next round and potentially Argentina in the round after, so becoming world champion would still require some miracles xd

Uruguay has on paper a few good players, however they barely were able to qualify.

Belgium has a bunch of talented Young Players.Among all of them for me the notable ones are "Lukaku",he is one of the hard hitting strikers+with techniques and "Eden Hazard",A genius Playmaker. Are they in the team??I can't see their names in official FIFA website??

Of course they are in the team. Lukaku is on fire, he scored 4 goals in two of the last test matches, including a hat-trick and Hazard likewise scored a beauty.

Yea Lukaka and Eden are selected, so they are most likely in Brazil already
I think De Bruyne is more of a key player than those 2 though, hes really brilliant in my opinion, even more so than Hazard I think.

I will root for Belgium ofcourse but like Caliburn has mentioned past the groupstage some potential titel candidates are waiting directly so it will be damn hard
Im really thrilled to start watching, did not knew it already started tomorrow lol , thought sunday :p , to bad so many late matches -need my sleep-

Algeria and South Korea won't make it IMO. They are great teams OFC, but Russia and Belgium are easily on another level.
Yeah, becoming a WC is something hard to achieve, though you never know, everything can happen. (Remember when Greece won Euro 2004, nobody expected that.)

Yeah, but I think Uruguay will be able to get itself qualified for the next round, together with England.
Italy hasn't collected most of the young talented players, and I don't think they'll be able to pass the 16th...

He is. De Bruyne is considered to be the 'engine' behind the qualification. He should have never went to Chelsea though, Wolfsburg and the Bundesliga are much more suited for him, though if he had left sooner, he could have been playing for Dortmund.

Those teams have got some serious quality running around even without Falcao.

Bleh Greece ~_~ still mad about that one. I don't mind it if the underdog wins, but Greece's football was dull and boring. Even if you play defensively, that doesn't mean you can't play attractive football. I mean look at their statistics of the qualifying rounds. They score one goal and then raise an almost impenetrable wall, regardless of who the opponent is.

And it's Italy, by default you should never count those out. They kinda became world champion out of the blue in 2006 too and many of their players play for Juventus, which had a monster score this season in the Serie A.

Yeah, Greece's game was boring, and yeah, you're right, their chemistry is good, their game play also. Belgium will definitely be a big surprise this year.

I don't quite agree with that. 2006 was pure luck for them, and they didn't make a good game.(I mean a winner of the WC should do much more than that.)
This WC will be different, I mean all the other competitive teams have some of the worlds best players, and i don't think Italy is gonna be competitive this WC...

I totally agree, this is my quote from that thread. I honestly believe this
Germany has a good chance but the only problem I have is that the Dortmund and Bayern rivalry might cost them, same with Spain(Madrid and Barca). I think 5 South American teams have a chance Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia and also Chile(they play well together). France or Italy could win but they have to play at their best all throughout the tournament while you can never write of Holland
I left out Belgium because I think its to early for them, I do think they will go far though

Nice thread! Youre going to update the fixtures after each game or not?

I wish Costa Rica wasnt so bad and also if we really had more luck to be in a different group, maybe we could make it past the group stage. Anyways, Ill be rooting for Germany! Go Die Manschaft!

I know one but I think the commentators are spanish. Its

Yes, Germany has the best odds. I don't think Belgium, Chile, England would be a surprise, as they are always strong. Japan on the other hand would be a surprise
