What a humiliation. Casillas ruined the game for Spain to be honest.

Two goals invalided for supposed offside and the 2nd one was on a direct corner, not the rebound or something, when everyone was packed together in the small square.

And even if we succeed at that, in the quarter final it's probably Argentina xd I believe though we have a fair chance against Portugal, Germany however would require a small miracle.
Good point lol, but then again anything is possible in football :)

OT: HAHAHAHAHAH From Heros to Zeros! I didn't expect Spain to lose that bad lmao. RVP and Robben were simply phenomenal.

Amazing show. Very good and fast play from Netherlands. It seems that all those long seasons and Champions League fixtures have taken their toll on Spanish players. They started the game as usual but Netherlands quickly showed their teeth and had a few chances. Regarding the penalty, it's kinda hard to say because Costa did have his foot swept from the floor and he couldn't land properly. What intrigued me most is the 3rd goal, where Netherlands scored after a corner. The same situation happened yesterday where Olic apparently fouled Julio Cesar. There was contact but the keeper was obviously not in position to grab the ball, yet here it was regular. Again, double standards everywhere. It's sad to see such things happen but I'm glad that Netherlands has shown a great victory and I wish them the best luck in the next matches because as it stands right now, we might just meet in the next round. :)

Robben is complete CLASS. Spain are overrated, boring, predictable, and mostly loved by glory hunters and band-wagoners. They also had a ton of help from the refs in the last world cup (Paraguay). I'm glad this happened. I'm literally on a victory high. BEAUTIFUL!

Congratulations to all Netherlands fans revenge of 2010 final finally achieved.

Van Gaal and his flying dutchmen just humiliated and humbled the spanish.

Wow just wow 5-1, no actually 5-0 if we remove that con-job of a penalty, and whats amazing it could have been more.

This was the largest defeat suffered by spanish in 61 years, last they lost to scotland in 1963 6-1.

A few points:-
1. Spanish-
a. Their defense looked precarious, I haven't seen spain sp weak on defense, they were truly bad.
b. Attack was weak too, no inspiration, no out of the box ideas just boring.
c. Casillas form has dropped due to not playing regularly, puyol was missing too.
d. Casillas, diva shouldn't have started and costa shouldn't have been replaced.

2.Netherlands-
a. 5-3-2 by Van gaal is a master-stroke, ot increases the efficiency of their attack
b. Robben was out for retribution which he received

Spain might not recover from this defeat. They have to rebuild their team with new ideas and from scratch

There's been so much talk about how Chile is absolutely brilliant and that they are a very strong team. I'm very curious about their play and I can't wait another 45min for the game to start. Such a defeat from Spain just opened Chile a great opportunity if they can defeat Australia tonight. It will be hard for Spain to recover mentally from a disaster like this and I'm wondering if Chile or even Australia (let's not ignore them just yet) are going to take advantage of this.

Everyone keep calm, spain lost their first match in the world cup in 2010 and they still won the cup, may i remind you that they are still the defending world and european champions. Also for those glory hunters who say spain are overrated well if winning the european championship back to back is overrated then yes they are. Casillas form has dipped a little and spain defense remains shaky but props has to be given to robben who i taught was the man of the match, on his best day he is as good as any other player on the planet.

Torres, running there like a wild ''tiger'', while failing. Casillas, poor, poor Casillas, how dare you, do this to your team? Robben sure did show you how to search for the ball huh? Ah well, nice match nonetheless. Everyone kept saying that van Gaal had put up the baddest team here, but he actually killed, like literally killed Spain.

And Thunderbolt, you're wrong there. If they played like this against Holland, then how are they going to manage to defeat Portugal, Germany, Belgium, England or Italy if they ever manage to clash? They had just shown how bad they became, or, how dangerous Holland had become.

True that Lol.
But something that left me shattered more is their today's overall performance. I wasn't expecting Spain defence to become that much bad or Fernando Toress to miss such a simple opportunity or Casillas to lose his superhuman goalkeeping skills. It was disaster and no doubt management has to work on things now.:p

Portugal? Your kidding me right? The one man team Portugal? The same Portugal that had to play playoffs to qualify? I wont even address the England and belgium teams because i see that as nothing more than wishful thinking. Only worrisome teams are germany and italy. This was down to the braincell of robben and vanpersie and how well they linked up nothing more nothing less.

To be frank casillas lost such "superhuman" powers some time ago ever since his long spell on the bench during the mourinho era in madrid, and torres missing clear cut opportunities isn't a new thing.

RIP Tiki Taka

Tiki-Taka is not dead just the teams employing it have aged, they don't have players who are fast enough to keep pressing the ball forward, and by the way bayren munich won the bundesliga with record score attest to the aforesaid fact.

Goal after goal for chile, sanches on fire.

Spain got raped so bad it was actually funny. However, it was only their first match so calm down. Casillas wasnt great but his mistake wouldnt have affected the result. The biggest problem with Spain is their defense. They have failed to replace Puyol and its going to cost them. He held that defense together. Pique had potential but ....

It seems you never seriously played football. Losing 1-0 and losing 5-1 are two completely different things. In the first case you can still say something like that it was bad luck or that it just happened, especially against a team like Switzerland who is known to have a very strong defense. But that was not the case here. Even if you lose 4-1 like Atlético Madrid in the Champion's League final, you can still say something like you were playing all or nothing. But that wasn't the case here.

Spain got butchered. Not so much because the Netherlands was that strong, Robben and Van Persie showed they are still world class however I kept an eye on their defensive line and that wasn't good at all, but because Spain was in the 2nd half horrible, just horrible. Every football player has one of those matches where it seems like everything works, in this case for the Dutch, but the reality is that Spain just sucked balls. They did everything wrong, they didn't know anymore how to play football and yes if you then have people like Robben and Van Persie, well they will not show any mercy. Spain doesn't have an excuse. Even if Spain had a complete off-day, it shouldn't have been that bad. Their entire team crumbled. Attack, midfield, defense, keeper...

Losing against Switzerland with 1-0 was just a small accident de parcours, however losing against the runner-up from the previous world cup with 5-1, with 4 goals in a timespan of barely 40 minutes because you completely forget how to play football, is serious, very serious. Spain now already has the knife against their throat. If they lost 2-1 or 1-0 at least then they still have a guarantee of their qualities, but they completely cracked.

This wasn't just losing a match, but you need to be a real football player to understand that. Spain is still Spain, but they received a huge blow.
