I don't think I'm gonna be writing or coming to NB at all for a while, so I decided to put this up. My ultimate dream fight; Minato Vs Itachi! Enjoy!
BTW, NOTE THE NUMBERS IN BRACKETS(1),(2),...THEY ARE VERY IMPORTANT! I EXPLAIN WHAT THEY MEAN AT THE END OF THE FIGHT. ^_^ Its not necessary that you read the explanation. Only if you have a problem with how the fight went down. I try to explain as much as possible.
A small yellow flash of light shone against the dark night, as Minato made his arrival. The Fourth Hokage was a man of humble appearance, his height only average and his build was not intimidating in the least. His eyes however, two cerulean pearls, were bright, sharp and menacing.
A thin well-shaped nose jutted from his face, his brows were thin and furrowed, and his lips were drawn into a straight line. A full head of spiky blonde hair bristled on his head, some falling into bangs at the side of his face. The standard Konoha Jounin attire donned by the Hokage was almost completely cloaked by his white high-collared coat, the Kanji for 'FOURTH HOKAGE' designed onto the back.
Minato's hands were folded and his face set in a stone-cold expression, as Itachi made his appearance in a puff of white smoke. The young Uchiha prodigy looked as rail and sickly as usual. However, the menacing glare in his crimson eyes, the powerful heritage of his clan, spoke volumes of his formidable might.
The raised collar of his Akatsuki covered his mouth. Long grey-black bangs framed the sides of his gaunt face, a few stray wisps hanging in front of his narrowed eyes.
“Uchiha Itachi I presume?”asked the Fourth, his voice soft and clear, his eyes carefully avoiding Itachi's(0). He continued when the man gave no answer, “I have been called upon a great multitude of Naruto fans, to do battle with you, in order the settle the question of who is stronger between the both of us.”
“I have also been summoned for the same reason.” responded Itachi in a deep voice. He unfastened the top collar of his cloak, the fabric swaying open to reveal part of his upper body. The robe was still, however, closed from his belly down to his feet. “Shall we?”
Minato fired a volley of his custom kunai, the multitude of them leaving his hands in a single second. Itachi had already weaved a number of hand seals, and he conjured a great ball of flame from his lips. The blaze quickly consumed the incoming weapons and roared its way towards Minato, setting the grassy plains on fire.
The Yellow Flash was armed with a Rasengan, and he plunged the sphere into the inferno. The two techniques clashed, and instantly the circular ball of fire became distorted, and was blown away in a powerful spiral, but Minato's chakra sphere still remained(1). Rearing on his feet, a cold and murderous fire burning in his eyes, the Yellow bolted towards Itachi, a Rasengan in one hand and a kunai in the other.
As Minato sped forward, he caught a view of Itachi's cloak opening completely, and several black birds pouring out from inside the robe. The creatures, crows by their dreary infernal cries, flapped their wings with fervor as they soared towards Minato(2). The blonde halted his movements, dropping the kunai in one hand as the Rasengan in the other dissolved into thin air, and formed a hand seal.(3)
“Kai!”
The genjutsu faded away, and Minato, now returned to reality saw that a number of shuriken were headed towards him. Thrusting a hand into his weapons pouch, he drew a few shuriken and flung them at Itachi's. Sparks flew and the air rang with the clatter and screech of metal, as the weapons of the Yellow Flash deflected Itachi's.(4)
At the very instant when the last shuriken was countered by Minato, Itachi charged his opponent, his hands earnestly weaving seals then drawing shuriken. He fired the weapons, breathing a coat of flames onto each as they swam through the air at Minato.
One swift leap carried Minato over the flaming shuriken, and from his position in mid-air, he unleashed a number of his custom kunai at every corner of the battlefield, with one directed at Itachi.
Itachi threw a shuriken at the weapon headed at him but before the shuriken could deflect the kunai, Minato appeared near his own thrown weapon, shocking Itachi. The Hokage deftly grabbed the kunai he had flung at his opponent, blocked Itachi's opposing shuriken with it, and flung the kunai at the Uchiha once more.
The effect of this action was not lost on Itachi; by appearing near his kunai while the weapon was in mid-flight, then throwing it again, Minato had boosted the speed of the weapon, modifying the timing of when it would strike. It was an impressive maneuver, however Itachi was not one to be bested by such a move.
The thrown kunai was now a hair's breadth from Itachi. Even for someone of his caliber, there was simply no time to form seals of any sort for a technique. Only one dangerous option was left; the Uchiha narrowly evaded the weapon, but it claimed a small portion of the high collar of his cloak.
As it flew past the Itachi's neck, a burst of yellow light appeared behind him, the bright beacon of Minato's signature technique. Minato, a small distance behind his enemy, took hold of the dodged weapon which soared by Itachi's neck and attempted to stab the Uchiha, just as Itachi activated his Mangekyo Sharingan.
The clang of metal was heard, as Minato's kunai clashed with something hard and steel-like instead of plunging into Itachi's flesh. The kunai snapped in two, and the pointed head of the blade fell to the ground. It had been destroyed when it smashed into a large and ominous defense which Itachi had conjured out of thin air.
Susanoo had made its apperance on the battlefield. Only the complete skeletal form had materialized, Itachi enclosed in its capacious ribcage, which he destroyed Minato's relatively feeble kunai. A large skeletal arm lunged at Yellow Flash and scooped the Fourth Hokage, holding him up in the air with an iron grip.
“What is this?!” Minato asked breathlessly, unable to even struggle against the grasp of the bony humanoid Itachi had invoked.
Itachi looked up at Minato, glowering at the blonde through an opening in Susanoo's ribs, a small drop of blood trickling out of the corner of his left eye. “The power of the Uchiha!”
Minato's eyes widened in shock as he observed a small burst of black flame charging towards him at a speed approaching that of A, the Fourth Raikage(5). The quickness of Amaterasu was such that the flames were famed to be unavoidable, but clearly the abilities of Konoha's Yellow Flash had not been taken into consideration.
In his trademark 'yellow flash', Minato vanished, escaping the hold of Susanoo, escaping the formidable black flames of Amaterasu. The flames missed their target and caught the bony fingers of Susanoo instead which the blonde gad vacated.
Reappearing a small distance away from Itachi, Minato began to spread his kunai once more. “I must get him faster next time.” thought Minato.
Itachi quickly took notice of his opponent, the blonde ninja who had slipped away from the grasp of Amaterasu. Itachi would make sure it didn't happen again.
The Uchiha concentrated his gaze at his enemy once more, Susanoo fading away from his person(6), and he unleashed Amaterasu once more(7). The black flames closed in on Minato until they were half an inch from consuming him, but he evaded once again in a yellow blaze of bright light.
The soft thud of Minato's feet landing on the grass alerted Itachi of his new position. The blonde was now position five meters away to the right. Itachi, his eyes still gushing with Amaterasu(8), turned in that direction, only for his black flames to meet with grass. The Yellow Flash had already disappeared, but not before throwing a kunai skywards.
Itachi, true to his genius intellect, had already figured out Minato's plan; the Fourth would teleport to the kunai he had thrown upwards when the weapon soared directly above Itachi.
Itachi's eyes immediately turned up towards to kunai, and he saw that it was flying just above him, and that Minato, as expected, had already teleported to it. His Amaterasu fired just as Minato threw the same kunai downwards to the ground, but as was already thrice displayed, the Flying Thunder God Technique was quicker.
Evading Amaterasu yet again, Minato popped into existence near the thrown kunai, which was falling directly behind Itachi. The Uchiha did not need to turn around before he knew Minato was behind him. He had predicted Minato's movements up to that point, only that he was powerless to counter.
Minato had teleported too close, there would be no room to do anything. The only hope he had was making it a draw.
Itachi resigned himself to do it; there would be no time for him to avoid Minato's next attack or use Susanoo as a defense,(9) but he would be able to take advantage of that exact moment, when Minato would have to remain in one spot to deliver the final blow, to connect with the Amaterasu.
The moment came. Minato, from behind Itachi, closer than he ever was to his opponent, lunged forward with a kunai in one hand, the other closed into a fist, moving at his absolute fastest speed. Itachi turned around in the same instant.
”Amater-”
Before the Uchiha could even complete the thought, Minato had delivered powerful upper-cut to Itachi's jaw, turning his face, and by extension his gaze, upwards(10). Amaterasu bloomed up in the starry night sky, just as Minato plunged a kunai through Itachi's heart, ending his life in the selfsame moment.
The End.

Explanation of the Numbers
(0) Yes, Minato is avoiding Itachi's eyes. How he knows to do that? Well, you remember him fighting Obito right? At once point, they faces came SO close to gether. Minato had to have seen Obito's Sharingan, if he was looking at it. But in the next chapter, minutes after beating Obito's ass, he flashed back to the masked man and didn't remember a Sharingan, just a dark hole in the mask. This most probably means that despite looking directly at Obito's face from inches away, Minato avoided looking into the hole in the mask.
Minato was stated by Jiraiya to be very careful and prudent, and doesn't do things without a reason. Sounds like the type of guy who would avoid meeting a Sharingan's gaze. Unlike Orochimaru who let Totsuka hit him cuz he thought he wouldn't die.
Also, Minato had info on Sharingan powers since he knew about the length of time Obito could control the Kyubi. Ergo, he should know the basic genjutsu abilities and how dangerous they were.
(1) -The Rasengan could counter the fireball without being used up because that is exactly what Naruto's Rasengan did to Sasuke's fireball when they fought on the hospital rooftop.
(2) This is the non-eye-contact genjutsu that Itachi used on Naruto when his crow clone fought Naruto. It seems to be unavoidable as Naruto didn't even realise when he was caught. That is why I believe Minato will get caught.
3 As the genjutsu isn't a Sharingan genjutsu, it should be broken by normal methods. The databook explicitly states that non-eye-contact genjutsu can be broken by 'kai'
4 Minato is actually quite good at shuriken throwing. Whether he matches up to Itachi, I can't say. But when Kakashi was young and first used his Chidori, the earth nin they were fighting made 19 shadow clones. All 19 threw weapons at Kakashi and Minato countered all the weapons with shuriken.
5 The fact that Raikage dodged Amaterasu at close range means the flames are slower than Raikage. The fact that the flames moved past Raikage and hit someone behind him, means the flames move normally and don't just appear on the person.
6Itachi deactivated Susanoo to conserve chakra. Remember that he's sick and dying. Also, if Susanoo is up, he can't use Amaterasu since he'll be shooting at the inside portion of Susanoo and it wont get to the outside. Amaterasu is his best bet at catching Minato:it can destroy his kunai even if it doesn't hit him.
7Itachi shot Amaterasu before, stopped shooting to conserve chakra, then now fired another one at Minato. There's no point in using it the crazy massive way he used it against Sasuke in their fight. He'll just get blind and Minato will keep disappearing[
8 Here, Itachi uses Amaterasu in the crazy way he used it against Sasuke. Hoping that he'll get Minato if he just keeps firing and doesn't wait.
9One might ask why he couldn't use Susanoo to shield. For the same reason he couldn't stop Kabuto from tearing him in half and from biting off his arm, and for the same reason Obito couldn't go intangible to avoid Minato's Rasengan: NO TIME!
10 Minato didn't stab him like he expected, instead Minato gave him an upper cut to make him miss with Amaterasu. If Minato didn't do that, he would surely have died. Perhaps its my bias that he did. I concluded it was reasonable since this is sorta what happened to Obito. Well, go write your own story about it! I'll gladly read it if it makes sense! :bouncy:
If you're wondering why Itachi didn't use Yasaka of Totsuka, the reason is he knew Minato could dodge those stuff. He went with his fastest technique; Amaterasu. What he didn't expect, was that Minato would have the reflexes to dodge Amaterasu(explained above)
