Hello everyone, I am tired of some of the female characters in Naruto being demoralized or just under-appreciated (except Kaguya, but she doesn't count!), so I wanted to give a shout out to some of the awesome ladies in this Shonen manga. I will focus on three of them so this doesn't get too dragged out. Everyone is always talking about Madara, Sasuke, Itachi, and sometimes Naruto, and who is more powerful, but what about the awesome female presence in the manga?
Although she suffered great loss in losing her brother and her beloved, she found a reason to become a better person by helping their dreams become a reality. Instead of sulking or becoming depressed for life, she reevaluated her life and decided it was her mission to protect Konoha and preserve the memories of her loved ones. How freaking noble is that?!
She follows both her head and her heart. She stands up to authority and rules even when no one else does to defend what she believes is right. She stands up to the elders and Danzo, when the previous two Hokages did not realize the importance of this. She stands up to the Raikage and takes the lead without needing confirmation.
She is fearless, but not irrational.
Like all people, she has weaknesses, and hers are gambling and drinking. This really gives her a humorous and human touch, one we can all relate to.
She is not always serious, but is incredibly so when she needs to be, inspiring others to the cause.
She transcends gender roles while being confident about how she looks like and who she is.
She has funny, complex, and heartwarming relationship with quite a few other loveable characters:
She is an independent woman who doesn't need no man!
But at the same time, despite her cool and collected exterior, we know that the emotion she feels is one that many of us can relate to...
but it only makes her stronger and more resilient - this is what's really awesome about Tsunade.
Now the other female characters are not as developed, but I will try my best to focus on their positive aspects. *_*
She matured a lot from Part 1 Sakura to Part 2 Sakura. Although she was once this immature little girl...
...and made some questionable decisions...
She still went from not being able to recognize simple genjutsu to discovering the white zetsu infiltration...
...from being constantly saved to saving her saviors from Team 7:
Although she may not reek awesomeness like Tsunade, she still came a long way since her Sauce-obsessed self, and has given teenage girls a little bit more to strive for.
I don't know abut you, but I like Karin. I think she has a realistic personality, and I like that her fangirl-isms do not prevent her at excelling at her skills. She is always attentive and focused, and makes important analyses in battle.
In the battle with Danzo, as well as with the kages, Karin was analyzing the battle without letting her feelings get the best of her, showing a clear and focused mind and mental process.
Her dynamic with characters like Suigetsu and Orochimaru is realistic and hilarious.
Despite generally being cold to almost everyone besides Sasuke, she was willing to stop Sasuke from killing Sakura on her last breaths, even if she suspected Sakura once loved him:
She knows when to keep her mouth shut or how to get herself out of unpleasant situations:
And of course there are her awesome sensing abilities which can often be just as useful as the strongest fighting.
She is a natural strategist as well as a good leader; since Part 1, she confidently takes charge...
And is not willing to win against lazy geniuses without a challenge:
Even Shikamaru admits this:
Although she is coolly confident, bold, and composed....
...and even mastered Itachi's handwave... (how cool is that?!)
and is highly independent and doesn't need no man, even if it's Shika!..
...she has very strong feelings for the people she cares about, and is willing to protect them, such as when she protected and supported Gaara like a brother:
Selfless, individualistic, and has awesome sarcastic remarks!
I did not forget Hinata or Ino -- I will get to them in the next appreciation thread!

Personally, I find Tsunade to be an amazing role model, and one of the most well-developed female characters in Naruto. She may not be super strong in jutsu, but she is strong for the following reasons:
