Personality
Feitan is extremely cold natured, however, he is loyal to those he can trust. From his appearance, you can tell that he is a cruel person, but he surprisingly can display a sort of humorous side. He can be intelligent, a quick thinker, mature and doesn't let himself be fooled that easily, in other words, Feitan slightly shows any trust, except few people he trusts. Feitan also likes to banter when he feels like it. In the battlefield, Feitan doesn't let his emotions rule him. He always remains calm and keeps his straight posture in any situation, be it near death too. He also acknowledges his opponents, if they have impressed him.

History
Feitan's origin comes from the Hidden Mist village. Born to unknown parents, Feitan was raised in an orphanage, located at the east of Kirigakure. The young Feitan wasn't generally happy about living in that place. He had always hated being restricted and abiding by the rules, and the orphanage life strongly was so. That was when Feitan's gloomy and foggy persona took shape. On his face, there was barely present a smile. He also didn't interact much with the other children that lived there. Normally you would expect that they bullied or picked on him, but it was quite the opposite. The kids didn't really want to approach someone like Feitan, who was always quiet and living in his world.
As much as messed up his social life was, Feitan was excellent in Ninja Academic lessons. He'd often get envied by the other kids that called themselves prodigies, and every other day Feitan would get challenge requests from different kids. Fighting was against the orphanage's rules, but the chairman saw how interest this activity hold among the kids. Eventually, he opened a weekly tournament in which the kids could fight. Of course, no one could ever come close to Feitan's level, and as soon as Feitan realized this, he started making fun of the others in the ring. The staff didn't really approve of this, and moreover, the other kids were getting irritated as each day passed. From various protests and requests from the children, Feitan was eventually banished from stepping in that place again.
Feitan started questioning himself as to why everyone hated him. Was it perhaps they were envious, or simply hated his attitude? He decided not to stress over this and actually enjoy the freedom he was given. The chairman, noticing Feitan's ninja skills, had sent him to an old friend of his, who was called Shichiro. The old man immediately took a liking to Feitan's character, and this was finally a glimmer of hope to him that he could possibly be accepted by someone. As months and years passed, Feitan grew into a fine shinobi with lots of different capabilities. During this time, Feitan had also participated in different activities which the village held, displaying his skills. Shichiro was truly proud of his student, however, he feared that he would be growing into a monster. For this, he kept a secret from Feitan.
One day, the officials of the village appeared in Shichiro's dojo. They cited their desire to hire Feitan in their ANBU troops. They explained how they had been keeping an eye on him, and how they were confident that he would be an ideal choice. Skeptic at first, Shichiro let it in Feitan's hands. Naturally, Feitan chose to go with them. He thanked for everything Shichiro had done for him and then left. This was when Shichiro's biggest fears were coming true. If Feitan would go and join the ANBU troops, he'd be aware of more abilities, and seeing how Feitan was an ambitious person, he'd do anything to get them. That said, a thought stricken in his mind. To not let Feitan know of more powers, he should get rid of the scrolls stored in the Kage Mansion.
Years passed, and Feitan was of 21 years age. He had become his team's leader and was looked up to from his teammates. Once Shichiro heard of this, he was dead serious about stealing that scroll and deserting the village. And so he did, one night he infiltrated the Kage Mansion and stole the scroll. Of course, the officials would soon know of this. They immediately sent Feitan's team to eliminate this individual. Shichiro, with an ANBU mask on his face, was already from the village's capital. Feitan's team was known for their connections around all the Kirigakure. They'd immediately take hold of the place Shichiro was and decided to go there. After some hours of search, Feitan and co confronted this "masked" man. Behind that mask, Shichiro shed some tears after seeing Feitan for the first time in such a long time. He carried the scroll in his back and swore not to hand it to them, however, Feitan was great in number. Shichiro was outclassed and was forced to hand the scroll to them.
The revelation of who was behind the mask struck on Feitan's mind. He obviously didn't expect this development and quickly regretted his actions. He had killed his master. Tears rolled on Feitan's clean and gloomy face. He pondered as to why Shichiro was so protective of this scroll and told his team that he was going to read what was inside, even if it was against the village's rules. The team, abiding by the village, went against Feitan. At this point, Feitan didn't care anymore and simply killed his teammates off. When the path was clear, Feitan opened the scroll. He immediately gasped upon reading what was written and gripped the scroll closed with a mourn over his dead master. What was inside the scroll were the instructions on what Dark Release was.
Feitan eventually defected from Kirigakure since that day. There had been countless attempts in Kirigakure's side to kill Feitan off, however, no one succeeded to even find him. The former ANBU captain was in search of a Dark Release master, in order to teach him about this ability, Shichiro kept secret from Feitan. As months passed and Feitan wandered the ninja world. He visited the Land of Wind and Sunagakure and met its people. Then, he finally came across someone who could teach him Dark Release. It was Nathan. The firm and serious looking man was respectable and saw Feitan's determination to learn this ability.
Feitan realized that he couldn't stay as a Nuke-nin anymore, so his new goal now was to find his new home. His feet took him to the Land of Earth, whose main land was Iwagakure. The War General of it that time, Vex, immediately noticed Feitan even though a fight was taking place near the borders. Much to Feitan's nature, he ignored things that didn't interest him, and straight out went to the Tsuchikage and stated his desire to join this village. The Tsuchikage Hazama was skeptic of Feitan's loyalty at first, however he decided to trust him.
Feitan quickly got accustomed to the village. He became good friends with most of the people and had a good time. He also met a lot of influential people like Akasha, Detective L and Drackos. The first two were Feitan's first teachers and taught him a lot of new stuff Feitan is grateful about. Feitan also invested a lot of time to further his social skills and he wasn't that socially awkward. He'd visit the tavern every day and chat to the present people.
Even though he took part in a lot of activities in Iwagakure, crisis struck it in. The village was rarely lively and everyone seemed to have left. This put Feitan in a great discomfort. He tried several times to restore the ideal Iwagakure back by cooperating with Inch and Jokey to participate in the current Ninja World activities. The trio got several people ready, even Hazama, about this matter but in the end everything seemed to be in vain. Days passed and Feitan decided to set off in an adventure. He needed to refresh himself with new happenings in his life, and defected from Iwagakure. Upon traveling lands, he met a lot of people, one of them being Kaneki Ken, his rival. During the trip, Feitan also visited Amegakure in order to see this village himself with his two eyes, since word had been revolving it being very distant from the others for quite a while. Even though Feitan found the village somewhat interesting, he soon decided to put his visit to an end. Though, he didn't leave empty handed. He got to know about Amegakure's distinct ability, Ameton.
Ultimately, Feitan joined the first land he visited once he left his home, Sunagakure. Albel warmly welcomed Feitan with a spar, and Feitan was overjoyed to meet his old friends once again. Notable to say, Feitan influenced Yasopp to join Sunagakure. The latter was powerless against Feitan, and decided to surrender and join Feitan and his village. Shortly after Feitan joined the Hidden Sand, he also got his Iwagakure friend Kuroh to join it as well. Feitan now leads a satisfying ninja life in Sunagakure.
