When I was a teen I was slightly anti-social but not for the studying working hard side of it. Now I study and have many good friends and I work away at my job. Not exactly what I wanna do but I am getting there.

When I was a teen I was super shy around people. I had a core group of friends but other than that I didn't do anything but school work (I guess I was a little nerdy too). Then when I went away to college the experience changed my entire personality. While I was still a little nerdy, I wasn't afraid to go out and try new things and meet new people. My 20's have been the best years of my life.

That sounds good. But every age has its own pros and cons, I haven't utilized any of my age group's perks yet.
But yes, Being an adult is fun in its own way too.

I remember when I was 7 I was so clueless to how adulthood worked. I thought money was easier to come buy and that working was awesome. Now I work, not always enjoying it but this is just a stepping stone on my way to my career. Money is also 100% more fun when you earned it. It feels so different and much better. Adult life has its downsides like working long hours and bills but if you aren't a lazy bum, so much money and freedom with that money.

It all comes together slowly. Sometimes it seems like you might not be able to have both a social life and work hard, but eventually you form a balance and find true satisfaction. My job and things in my current life isn't exactly what I want either, but it's a start, and I am actually happy.

I never meant that. Being an engineer is what I actually want for a career, but at the price of my social life and other fun things, it's tough for me to just leave either one of them. If my social-life was more important, why would I even be studying the way I am now?
I've left all that stuff just so that I can be an engineer.
Partying is more fun than studying for me, but studying is more important because it'll affect my life

Then if that is the case there is nothing to regret. There will still be opportunities for you to go out and party in college. It won't be as much as you like, but sacrifice a little now, and gain major rewards later. Are you in America or another country? Do you plan to stay at home when in school or move out?

Super shyness is my thing too. I was so so shy as a teen, still can be. I am at tech and have worked on building sites and as a chef in a kitchen. I needed to yell in those places, changed me mostly for the better. I still get shy at times, like at work I was shy but a co-worked pulled me from my shell and now I am actually really enjoying work.

Heck, you never know, when you attend University you might make new best friends and love the experiance of studying. It is a whole new experiance and you might enjoy the progress more than you ever thought possible.

I am sure your friends will understand you are working to a steady future and will support you.

Working for long hours and getting less time for oneself is a real disadvantage. If only earning money was that easy :p we all would get to enjoy our lives to the fullest

Keep your chin up, if people love you, they will stick around no matter what. they will be patient because they know you're gonna be working loads, but in return have fun with them every once in a while ^^ thats what I do... my family was egging me to become a nurse and i didnt want to, I wanted to work in the media, so thats the course I took for higher education. I have to work extra hard because I chose the path I wanted to... I need to prove my parents I chose the right path ^^ and be happy because I succeeded. You should be happy too. Keep your chin up. Don't be scared. I'm 19 and in my second year of university... it's terrifying but there's always time for everything.

I used to worry I was "wasting my teen years" by not getting drunk, smoking and being an all around trouble maker like the other kids. Then I realized that life just isn't for me.

I'm happy the way I am. I'll be making 20 this year but I don't regret any of my "boringness" through these past years

S/He makes a good point. Most people don't go to college to party, but to gain what they need for a better future. You will be surrounded by people in your same position and you will be able to help each other out. It will be a new core of friends, but friends that will understand that life is more than just drinking and going out. The people I was friends with in high school I haven't seen or talked to since I graduated. My college friends are the ones that will be in my life forever.

If I was in America I would've been partying right now. But that's not the case. Well I do have plans to move to US in college, even if I don't I'll move to US for a job, because that's one country where I can work and enjoy at the same time

I'd never go that route unless you truly like that sort of thing. I have never drank or smoked a day in my life, and no one could convince me to do it. I cared more about making myself happy and knowing that I would damage my insides with the stuff the kids at my school were doing was not on my list of "cool things to do at school". You did the right thing.

As gay as the saying yolo is, it is true. You really do only live once and you shouldnt pass up on experiences you might not get the chance to have later. Having a fun youth and doing all the things you wanted to kind of outweighs preparing all your time for a life/job you may end up hating. its best to not live with regrets. Just my view.

Growing up , like anything new, will always be a challenge. How you approach this challenge will determine your outlook on it later on.

I'm in college. It was a huge change for me (anybody for that matter), but I think I'm doing well so far. I look back at my childhood and high school days and say, wow, things were so different then.

If you learn to embrace change, the world can be a great place full of opportunities for the future. However, you've also got to stay grounded and have a sense of self-identity and morals. Balance these things and you'll do fine :)

UR teenage years are not what ull miss the most keep at what your doing once you accomplish your goals your age will only be a number. once your 21 and have a good job stay away from little girls under 18 and you can do everything you wanted when you were a teenager. Everything in life will mean more to you because you worked for it your self and no body handed it to you

In high school, one of the advices I got from a guy that successfully entered the Uni was "Have fun, lots of ***, drink, etc but study!" So basically enjoy your life, but put your studies and goals as priority. Learn how to balance them, and you'll learn it with experience, sit down an see when you're free and when you're not (lessons, revision, research, etc).

If you do too much of one of them, you may regret in the future, so fun and commitment here are like yin yang

I really do envy you man. I honestly never had a childhood. My teenage and innocence literally fled so fast, that sometimes when I think about it; I never really did anything in those years because of my family issues. Regardless, now that I am in my twenties, I do feel really doleful due to the years I lost. I say, enjoy this life. Your childhood will end sooner or later. Better to plan for a good future ahead. That's my advise.
