I envy you, I'm 29 going on 30, slight silver strands in my hair but I never had a true teenage life. I was older than my time and always given adult responsibilities. I thought like a teacher and became the youngest TA in my school. When I was 17 both my grandparents died and we were dealing with funeral arrangements, moving to a new home, etc...

There is a good side to aging though! Now that I'm almost 30, with my emotions settled, I think a lot clearer.

You see, life will actually get better for you. Lack of changing hormones will make thinking easier and you will see things in a different light.

Despite being 29, it really is just a number though. I still love anime, watch cartoons, plays games. None of that changes as you age unless you let it affect you. Life may be busy now, but once you settle in, socializing and fun can be squeezed into your schedule. Don't let it overwhelm you.

you're never to old to have fun girl :ice:

You really shouldn't envy me, I'm having a hard time. Being a socialite most of my life, the transition to being anti-social and studious was hard for me
I feel like I'm wasting my teenage life on studying, when others are partying and drinking, I'm just sitting next to my study table.

About the age thing, I'll love anime when I'm around your age too. Gaming and watching anime will always be the most fun part of my life. Anyways your age group too, in a way, has it's own perks. You get to control people :p *kidding
But still let's hope we both get the kind of fun we've always wanted

Growing up is not the same as growing old. Part of being an adult is prioritizing. That doesn't mean work will always come first or else you will burn yourself out and ultimately be unhappy. The best time of my life was during college. Yeah sometimes you will have a heavy work load and there will be times when your best friend will be a textbook. But the important thing is to relish in the moments where you get to cut loose and have fun. It doesn't matter how brief they are. And you may doubt that you have the will to do it, but I'm sure you'll find the resolve somehow.

I know many friends who felt that way. Being a socialite than having to drastically change can be unnerving. I used to be anti-social now I'm very social and I get overwhelmed sometimes and want to hide away from it all.

lol I have never controlled anyone, because of my looks and height no one takes me seriously as an adult.

I never did any of that stuff as a teen either, but with the exception of drinking and partying (not my thing), I am getting the chance to enjoy myself like I should have when I was a teen.

It is an understandable fear, but you need to see that working hard for your future now will unlock so many possibilties for you later on.

When I was your age I didn't concentrate hard enough on my studies and I am now catching up on it, study when you're at your age and later you will be able to work and hang with friends.

Here is a quote for anyone having trouble thinking about adult life:
Decide in your heart of hearts what really excites and challenges you, and start moving your life in that direction. Every decision you make, from what you eat to what you do with your time tonight, turns you into who you are tomorrow, and the day after that. Look at who you want to be, and start sculpting yourself into that person. You may not get exactly where you thought you'd be, but you will be doing things that suit you in a profession you believe in. Don't let life randomly kick you into the adult you don't want to become.

I'll be honest, I'm extremely scared of growing up, I really don't want to. I love being a kid.

I like your answer. This is exactly why I'm this way right now. I'm trying to concentrate on my future even though the price will be the main part of my life. But losing the main fun part of my life is really depressing for me and I'll sure regret it in the future

I'm also 29 going on 30, married, and I got to say my life is still fun, but there was always ups and downs. That's what builds you as a person anyway. Getting older should not frighten anyone. If you think your life sucked or what ever, then do something about it now to make it better. Being an adult does add some responsibility, it doesn't take away from the fun. It just makes fun more enjoyable when you know that you earned it. I still watch animes, read mangas, play games, go drinking on the weekends, nothing about that has changed for me. Although I don't have any grays yet which I'm happy about. Don't stress getting older its just another day. Melanee has it right as well, age is just a number.

There is nothing to say you won't have many wild adventures later on, just with the money to fund them. Sure you are missing your teens but as a 20 something you actually have more options. Go to the states or travelling? Sure, no one will need to supervise you travelling that distance or keep you in line if you're 20. When you are a teen sure you're free from worries but there is always people who can control you.

Why do you think you would regret it? Is partying more important to you than becoming an engineer? If it is, then maybe you need to reevaluate why you plan on going to school for engineering to begin with. If it's not what you truly want to do, then you will regret it.

That sounds good. But every age has its own pros and cons, I haven't utilized any of my age group's perks yet.
But yes, Being an adult is fun in its own way too.

When I was a teen I was slightly anti-social but not for the studying working hard side of it. Now I study and have many good friends and I work away at my job. Not exactly what I wanna do but I am getting there.

lol yes, and even some elderly people I know live like teens and are healthier for it and look younger. You aren't too old until you die imo.

Hey, anytime! I'm always around the board and it's never a bother when people send me messages!

I never meant that. Being an engineer is what I actually want for a career, but at the price of my social life and other fun things, it's tough for me to just leave either one of them. If my social-life was more important, why would I even be studying the way I am now?
I've left all that stuff just so that I can be an engineer.
Partying is more fun than studying for me, but studying is more important because it'll affect my life
