Fear of Growing Up

As you guys already know, the most fun that a person has in his life is when they are teenagers because that's when people get to experience new things. I'm just about to turn 17 in a few months and sadly I'm an engineering student who will lose his chances of getting a good job if I get involved in stuff that normal 16 year olds actually do.
I've had two gfs (I'm a virgin however) and I have tried drinking alcohol too but that's just basic stuff. Right now, my age group is the spotlight of all the ages. Most of the entertainment world is based around my age (take anime for example -bleach, naruto, etc etc) Even the gaming industry is centres around this age group.

Soon this will all change and I will be an adult with a hell lot of responsibilities and less time for fun.
I don't see much hope in my college life either because as I said being an engineering student takes away all the fun that teens have.

Neither do I have time to have fun with my friends, nor can I talk to girls who are interested in me.. I can't even play video games nowadays.

I'm not sad but I'll sure regret not having fun in my teens like I had planned to but on the brighter side I will get a good job and I'll pretty enjoy the rest of my life (hope so)

I too am an engineering student and I can see what you mean. But you can still do fun stuff. I go out for the day nearly every saturday. Just do your assignments and whatever during the week and do what you wish during the weekend assuming tht you have done everything needed

The fun thing about growing up is, you can do whatever the f*ck you wanna do, make any decision you wanna make, and not give a f*ck what others say.


Most of my childhood I was controlled, and pretty much isolated(by choice).

You can go to clubs, drink all you want, smoke all you want, and have *** with whom ever you want!

Although, the only bad thing is the responsibility part...which is inevitable, unless you wanna live in moms basement all your life...

I envy you, I'm 29 going on 30, slight silver strands in my hair but I never had a true teenage life. I was older than my time and always given adult responsibilities. I thought like a teacher and became the youngest TA in my school. When I was 17 both my grandparents died and we were dealing with funeral arrangements, moving to a new home, etc...

There is a good side to aging though! Now that I'm almost 30, with my emotions settled, I think a lot clearer.

You see, life will actually get better for you. Lack of changing hormones will make thinking easier and you will see things in a different light.

Despite being 29, it really is just a number though. I still love anime, watch cartoons, plays games. None of that changes as you age unless you let it affect you. Life may be busy now, but once you settle in, socializing and fun can be squeezed into your schedule. Don't let it overwhelm you.
