The FBI shutdown a child porn site but let it stay active for 2 weeks. They then tracked IP's of users that were guaranteed protection under the operating server. They identified at least 137 potential abusers, concentrating on uploaders to the site. The monitoring of the single sight has resulted in search warrants for each offender and more are imminent.

I mean.... clearly its for a good cause. If any of these users are actual offenders than I suppose the end justifies the means. Yet its a real slippery slope to travel down. The article doesn't make it abundantly clear if every target was an uploader or just a visitor. Is visiting a child porn site reason enough for the government to get a warrant to search your home? Privacy vs. freedom vs. keeping everyone safe... where do we draw the line?

They probably accessed the Deep Web or were maybe browsing 4Chan.
How can someone even accidentally click on child porn any ways? But it got me thinking that if you've accidentally seen it whilst browsing say /b/, would that land you in trouble?

Personally the FBI are going to go after uploaders and those who store child porn.

I've never seen child porn nor stumbled on it. So if you're on it, it wasnt by mistake lol.

But this is a very blurred line. No one is truly free thats why we have laws. I dont agree with child porn. We gotta have some got damn standards and sense of morality.

Raid the uploaders? Sure
The one's browsing? No. Could be an accident. Although... I'm very good with computers, but I wouldn't even know where to look for that content without accessing the dw.

I agree that the uploaders should be monitored/raided, but not all uploaders are going to carry the same weight of guilt. I assume some uploaders acquired the content elsewhere and had no involvement in the creation of said content or abused any children. Sure uploading child porn could be considered more evil than watching it, but is it bad enough to be raided if your involvement in actual creation of said content is unclear?

I mean 137 is a very small number in a country of 300 million, so it would make sense if this was strictly uploaders. Yet, how many of these 137 are just uploaders and not actual abusers? I don't know and that gray line is what makes the issue frightening. Obviously the easy way to avoid this is to not be a pedophile, but this potential infringement of rights could lead to more loss of freedom for more normal Americans in the future.

Personally, whether you're an uploader and and offender or just an uploader doesn't matter to me.
You're a sicko and you should get raided anyways.
Whether you're an offender or not, you're going to get arrested if you possess child pornography.

As for the viewers, I don't know what to say about that. Finding child pornography isn't hard but there's no such thing as accidentally accessing a child pornography site either, unless you trust random onion links (not sure who does).

Thinking about it, I doubt only 137 individual IP's pinged that website in 2 weeks, so that number is most likely restricted to uploaders or, more specifically, the possessors of the content. I agree completely that anyone possessing the sort of thing should be raided.

The moral border in question is in regard to general pedophiles. Perhaps some pedophiles are out for the domination thrill, but clearly most are simply attracted to children and can't help it. I guess as long as your a closet Pedo and not a practicing Pedo its acceptable as long as you keep it to yourself? I mean its not like we can consider punishing someone for being attracted to children if they never offend... right? But if these uploaders were all imprisoned and those closet pedos had no access to such content... would they be more likely to offend?
