Yep FBI commits over 5000 crimes....
Full Article:
Informants are often utilized to gain information and create a larger case against bigger fish, but is it worth letting them commit 5,658 crimes in a single year?
The FBI gave its informants permission to break the law over 5,000 times in just a single year, according to newly disclosed documents. The staggering number reveals just how much the nation’s top law enforcement agency uses criminals to help battle larger more intense crimes.

The U.S. Justice Department order the FBI to begin tracking the crimes committed by informants roughly a decade ago, after the agency admitted it had allowed Boston mobster “Whitey” Bulger operate a brutal crime ring in exchange for top mafia bosses.

The tally is submitted to Justice Department officials each year, but it’s the first year the numbers have been made public.

On average, agents authorized 15 crimes per day from buying and selling illegal substances to bribing government officials. FBI officials said in the past permitting informants to break the law is an indispensable, if not distasteful, part of investigating large criminal organizations. Shawn Henry, who supervised criminal investigations for the FBI until last year, stated:

“It sounds like a lot, but you have to keep it in context. This is not done in a vacuum. It’s not done randomly. It’s not taken lightly.”

USA Today managed to obtain of a copy of the FBI’s 2011 report utilizing the Freedom of Information Act. The report doesn’t go into details about the exact nature of the crimes authorized, nor does it include crimes committed without the knowledge of the agency.

Denise Ballew, a spokeswoman for the FBI, declined to answer questions regarding the report, saying that the circumstances in which informants are allowed to break the law are ”situational, tightly controlled,” and subject to Justice Department policy. The agency said in a 2007 budget request that it has a network of about 15,000 confidential sources.

I feel saying "crimes" is too broad of a term....for all we know they could have been torturing the criminals to get them to say what the FBI wants to hear

How to get them back:

1. Download 5 10-hour YouTube videos.
2. Label the folder "Child Porn"
3. Someone there has to watch the entire folder because their job requires them to do so by law.
I've read that one before. xD

OT:
Not surprised, but still somewhat disgusted.

Is it bad that I don't even care? It's relatively insignificant when compared to the total amount of crimes in the US per year.

They don't save lives, I'm afraid. The citizen's wellbeing is never a priority to govt. facilities.

Covering up their crimes is all they care for. Sad we think though of our government in that way, but it is the truth.

Edited: To save lives, you have to commit crimes. The U.S. have committed tons of crimes that benefit U.S. Those acts or crimes were murdering Terrorist without a trail.

Apparently, labeling murderous as Terrorist were the only way you could secure Peace. Of course, the U.S had to benefit themselves..... MONEY or POLITICAL gain.

I don't see the big deal. If you don't allow your informants to commit crimes, what's the point of having an informant? If you get someone in the mob to feed you information, and the mob plans to rob a bank with the informant a part of it, and you don't allow him to commit a crime, what is he supposed to say? "Sorry guys but I can't go with you and I can't tell you why either". The end generally justifies the means in these situations

Anyone who's familiar with the way the FBI and the DEA deal with drug informants knows that the government and law enforcement use informants like this all the time. They catch the small fish and offer them a deal they cant refuse in exchange for giving up a bigger fish. It's basically "Give us names or I'll put you in a building with a bunch of people who will rape you for a couple years"

Sadly this is standard procedure for infiltration ...... RL is not a Hollywood movie where everything falls into place and all is well in the end, 'sometimes you have to become a demon to kill a demon' is not idle words.
