By mangaka I basically mean your favorite manga author. Naruto's would be Kishimoto for example.

I'd have to choose Naoki Urasawa myself. I'm currently reading 20th Century Boys and the plot is great. Monster is also pretty dang good too. Both just reel you in although I prefer 20th CB. Pluto isn't supposed to be pretty bad either.

After that would probably be Shinobu Kaitani. The Liar Game is great and One Outs also receives a bunch of praise.

Go figure, both of those are actually my personal favorite mangaka as well. Though I have to mention Hirohiko Araki as well. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is the only thing I've read from him (and it might be his only real big hit, I haven't explored anything else from him yet) but it is utterly fantastic. It's a commendable effort because it is an even longer manga than One Piece itself (and I read about as far as the length of One Piece for JoJo) and yet can still retain its awesomeness for such an extended period of time. It's a fantastic, manly, made-of-win Shounen manga that has certainly evolved over the years, especially with the changes in style over the different JoJo sagas, yet still keeps the essence of how it started in some form and connects all of these parts together into one long, epic, coherent story.

This is actually a difficult question for me.
While I do like Urasawa, I'm at the beginning of 20thBC manga, as you know. I've never checked out Monster, but I had read Pluto. Having said so, the only manga of his I've read completely is Pluto. So...Urasawa is cool, but I need to read more from him---xd I'm getting the feeling he might get a special spot in my "heart"xd
Ookubo Atsuchi only has a remarkable work (Soul Eater) so it'd be kinda unfair to choose him xd
The other one that comes to my mind is Takei Hiruyuki. I loved Shaman King, I'm liking the spin off Shaman King Flowers....Karakuridoji Ultimo is pretty much da bomb, but since it's not available on the net, I can't tell if the story up to the 8th volume is still gud :)T_T: I only got to read till volume 2...I want to buy volume 3 but I keep spending all my money on food xd). Tumbor is said to be gud as well tho I hadn't read it. This leaves me with one manga from his work...and again that's kinda unfair xd
HAHA Not to metion that Kato Kazue does a pretty gud job with Ao no exorcist (but I had only read this from her work) and Toboso Yana has some of the most beautiful and detailed pages on her Kuro$hitsuji manga.
Asano Inio isn't bad him self...>.>
Conclusion Even if it sounds ridiculous coming from me, I have to read even more manga to choose my fav author (the trick is in reading more works of the same author xd).

I choose Kentaro Miura (Berserk). I like the dark themes of Berserk, the complex and deep story, as well as the artworks.

My second is Naoki Urazawa, mainly because of Monster.

I like Hiro mashima for his art, Eichiro Oda for story and art, also Tite Kubo and probably the most underrated Norihiro Yagi who is the creator of Claymore

Just look at that art (Norihiro Yagi)
