Just thought we could spitball our favorite anime openings.

Now, before you do, just think about more then how good the opening sounds, what is the meaning behind it, what impression did it give you when you of the anime when you first seen it and even now, does it make you feel anything?

I think one of the greatest anime openings of all times in this aspect is Clannad After Story's opening.

I can't say my first impression of it was that good, but I was quite new to anime then, I didn't know what was good or not.

Not only is it wonderful to listen to, it's also got other things that make it my favorite. The theme matches the overall anime, it's sad yet beautifully composed. It introduces the characters without spoiling anything about them, the quality of the art is amazing too. Just listening to it, you can tell that it is expressing a sad, but beautiful story. I think the best thing about it though and anyone who has watched the show would agree with me.

Just listening to it, gives you the most sad, nostalgic feeling ever. It's like it's describing the anime with the sound, just thinking about the whole thing with the music playing can make me tear up sometimes.

For best sounding though, I'd go with Dusk Maiden of Amnesia's opening. The drums, vocals and guitar are just all incredible, gets my blood pumping every time.

Kids on the Slope Opening

It embodies the whole feeling of the anime in the song and the visuals. The music has a Nostalgic feeling to it, but the shuffle time on the snare drums give it this keep on trucking kind of feeling, but then it gains a little moment but still has a touch of sweetness which represent the romantic and stir of emotions that happened throughout the anime. Towards the end when the trumpet comes in and the bass gets heavier but the feeling is light put peaceful which is how the anime ended.

I also like it because it has a mix of different musical genres but isn't forced or unnatural or even blatant, and it's one of those songs that grows on you and isn't force fed to you like most pop structured songs that are simple to grasp, it truly is art. Some people grasp it right away others it takes time, but everyone I've lent the series too ended up loving the opening theme song and I do as well.

Wow, I can really see what you mean by nostalgic, it really feels like it would give that feeling if I were to watch the anime. Just watching and listening to it, you can already tell it describes a heartwarming story. But you really are being too harsh on today's opening musics, being easy to grasp isn't essentially a bad thing, and not all of them are like that either. Sometimes it's even bad having to let it grow on you, but I really do like this one ^_^

Openings like this, that feel genuinely close to the story, these are the type of ones you will remember forever. Angel Beats' opening is a modern opening, but it's still extremely nice to listen to and feels very close to the story. You should give them more of a chance ^_^

I didn't mean to come off as a snob or anything, I actually like music that's easy to grasp as well, like the opening to Chobits and thousands of others. I just perfer music that has that extreme depth, music that a lot of people don't give a chance, that's all I meant.

I liked all of TTGL's openings (they're pretty similar to each other anyways). The theme just hypes me up *_* this was the easiest one for me to find
The way they introduce the threat and proceed with such energy makes it feel like they'll handle anything you throw at them.

Also spoilers...
When they replaced Kamina with Nia, it felt like they truly lost a good ally but would continue on fighting on with new comrades
The one for Part 2 is awesome in its own rights ^_^
