A father in California is making a stand against LGBT education in school. He states that there's no reason for such a heavy learning emphasis on people that fall into the category of LGBT just because of their sexual orientation. I agree 100% with him. Just because you have a different affiliation when it comes to attraction doesn't make you anymore special then anyone else. Your deeds are not better, you getting married isn't special, you adopting/"having" kids is not a special moment ect. There's no reason for all this attention to go out for a minority just because they are different in regards to attraction. I have no issue with people learning about LGBT but they should learn about that specific person due to his contribution to society not because he was affiliated with LGBT. You go to school to learn about math, science, reading, grammar ect not LGBT.

Lol. U go to school to learn about society and lgbt are a big part of it. I am gay and in my school noone talked to me about this stuff. Also when u call some people minority and protest against them u are a racist. U should also know that when a human is born he has no gendes. Heterosexuality and homosexuality are things that society built so they can control ur mind which is closed. Get a life and before u judge someone get to know him first. Thats what they try to do in school.

Then perhaps they shouldn't teach about women's suffrage or freedom of slaves because they were once (and some still argue, myself included) second class citizens just as LGBTQ are now. It's change in our country. It's called history. And guess what kids go to school to learn as well....HISTORY. Plus, our schools barely teach anymore. We are falling behind every other country. And it's sad. SOOOO that argument will become valid when our schools go back to TEACHING.

There's so much wrong with this post.

1-There's no such thing as racism, we are all fundamentally the same.

2-Standing up for someone who is against your affiliation is not protesting.

3-I have no idea what a gende is.

4-If you want to talk down to someone you might want to spell correctly.

Then perhaps they shouldn't teach about women's suffrage or freedom of slaves because they were once (and some still argue, myself included) second class citizens just as LGBTQ are now. I have no problem with history being taught like I stated in the Opening statement. However there's no need for all the propaganda to go along with it.

No Social Studies? It's been a while since I've been in grade school but I remember Social Studies was a pretty well known subject.

You stated when a human is born he has no gender..yeah please don't make conversations with anyone if it involves anything that requires intelligence.

I put ect which you bolded so I'm not sure why you're even insinuating that I didn't include it.

Is it about the law that states that history books have to include the important deeds of LGBT people too? I read about that last year. It's not that they have to put extra stress on the deeds of those people, but history books have to include their deeds now as well as opposed to keeping those deeds out of the books because they were performed by gay/lesbian/bi/transsexual etc people.

At least that's how I understood it when I read the article last year. I find it a good idea that their deeds will be included as well - after all, they are regular people like the rest mentioned in the history books - but they don't have to put extra stress on it. Singling those deeds out just because they were performed by a member of the LGBT group would make it sound like they are still not the same as other people just because they have another orientation.

So I find it good that their deeds are included in the history books, but they don't have to single those out just because they were performed by a member of the LGBT group.

If people are truly about equal rights then why is a minority singled out and is made to look more important then another group.

So I find it good that their deeds are included in the history books, but they don't have to single those out just because they were performed by a member of the LGBT group
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Teach about that person's deeds not their sexual orientation. You don't even hear about "A straight guy invented the light bulb" or "Electricity was invented by a heterosexual". If homosexuals are going to be singled out and their deeds are going by "homosexual did this to advance society or helped this movement" then we need to start putting heterosexual progressed society in this way.

I hope u grow up and read more books except bible. I feel pity for u...
I don't think the OP was talking about religion (though I could be wrong), so why bring it up?

Well, if it was a gay person that helped the "gay movement", how else would you describe them? I do get your point, I do. But you also have to understand that they have gone through so much sh*t. And finally they are starting to leave the 2nd class citizen status behind. And that is huge.

That's perfectly acceptable for me. If someone leads a movement to progress their affiliation that's perfectly acceptable. But outside of that there's no reason to put labels on someone because of their orientation. Also I never was talking about religion. It's ignorant people that immediately assume that just because someone is standing up for someone against LGBT that they are automatically religious.
