Fate/Stay Night was created years before Fate/Zero by another studio (same voice actors).
And Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works is by the same studio as Fate/Zero.

You should watch Unlimited Blade Works as it's a direct sequel. But if you hadn't watched Fate/Zero already I would have suggested you watched them like this:

1. Fate/Stay Night
2. Fate/Zero
3. Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited blade works

Since the series are based on visual novels, the stories in Fate/Stay Night, and Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited blade works follow different routes. So once you're done with Unlimited blade works (when the serie finishes airing), I suggest you watch the "Original" Fate/Stay Night :) The first few episodes are quite alike - but arround episode 5-6 the story takes another turn, and focusses alot more on the relationship between Saber and Emiya.

By watching the original Fate/Stay Night before I watched Fate/Zero, I got quite alot of nostalgic feelings, since I knew alot of the characters in an older version from Fate/Stay Night :)

And btw. there's another Spin-off called: Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya.
It's about the character Illiasviel Von Einsbern and it takes a comepletely different aproach - and alot lighter in many ways.
It's a "Mahou shoujo" anime - about "magic girls". But after the first impression about this being for small children and without a good story, I was actually quite impressed - and the characters and story got quite good!

Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited blade works hasn't finished airing yet. It's "only" at episode 17 out of 26 or so.
So once it's finished airing and some time has passed, an official Dub will be released on DVD (and then downloads)

Yes.

Fate/Zero is devided into two seasons - the first is 12 episodes, and the second is 13.
But even though this shows as "seasons" on MyAnimeList, it's only one show. The production of Fate/Zero was so big (and beautiful) that they split the serie into two "seasons" with half a year in between airing.

It's exately the same for Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited blade works. The first 12 episodes (or season) aired last fall, and the rest is currently airing now.

To make it easier for you:

Jan 7, 2006 to Jun 17, 2006: Fate/Stay night airs (The first - original)

Jan 23, 2010: Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works (A movie - by the same who made the original) airs

Oct 2, 2011 to Dec 25, 2011: First 12 episodes of Fate/Zero airs
Apr 8, 2012 to Jun 24, 2012: Last 12 episodes of Fate/Zero airs

Oct 5, 2014 to Dec 28, 2014: Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works first 12 episodes (serie by same studio as Fate/Zero, and it has a prologue episode) airs
Apr 5, 2015 to Jun 28, 2015: Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works last 12 episodes airs

The storyline is that Fate/Zero happened first, and then the Fate/Stay Night shows/movies happened 10 years after.
The reason Fate/Stay Night was made first, was that the studio didn't have the budget to make all the stories.

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya is a spin-off that happens around the same time as the Fate/Stay Night timeline.

And a movie for a third route in the original visual novel - that happens at the same time as Fate/Stay Night - called "Fate/Stay Night: Heavens feel" has been announced - but with no release date yet.

No, watch Fate/Zero first, after that watch Fate/Stay Night UBW, it makes much more sense that way.
In Fate/Zero the main character of fate/Stay night UBW is a kid, whereas he is much older in UBW.

True, but if you watch the original Fate/Stay Night first it doesn't refer to Fate/Zero.
In my opinion both starting from Fate/Zero and the original Fate/Stay Night is a good choice :) Depends on how you want the story told

It doesn't make sense to watch Fate/Zero first . It's meant as a prequel to Fate/Stay night .

Watch Fate/Stay Night: UBW after Fate/Zero. It seemingly expands more compared to the original Fate/Stay Night.

Is Fate/Stay Night worth a watch? Depends. The anime alters characterization and personality of it's important characters because it apparently shows characterization of the characters through ''visual story-telling'', which just happens to be the extremely ''bright'' idea of a director that brought us KnK 6 - his first project (UBW being his second) that also happened to be butchered to hell and was badly receieved by the fans.

So no, the anime isn't worth a watch. Both the old ones and the new one are terribly done simply because the old one was done by a horrible studio while the new one had possibility to be good, but was given to their worst director who happened to have an idea to make a first person story - the story and narrative that is carried out by the main character's point of view - into an ensamble cast story and ''lolvisualstorytellingthathasnochanceofbeinggoodwithaVN''.

Fate/Stay Night VN is very much worth a read, yes, but the anime that isn't a standalone and expects you to have knowledge from the VN (they expect you to have knowledge from the Fate route) is not good unless you are a VN fan who is watching it only for the animation. In other words, it's fanservice for the VN readers and it's not really recommended to anime only people unless they don't give a shit about the story or characterization.

No. Don't recommend this order to people. Because if they actually watch Zero first, they would spoil themselves on about 80% of the plot twists in Fate/Stay Night. Watching Zero before SN is like picking up a detective movie about a murder, skipping through the movie all the way up to where the detective explains how the murder happened after finding clues and things and then skipping back to the start of the movie and watching the whole clue gathering, etc. and the whole main story that was supposed to be viewed before the murder flashback.

Either way, this time it doesn't matter since he already watched Zero first before you even recommended it.

Fate/Stay Night is still well written and extremely enjoyable even if you spoil a lot of plot twists with Zero, but it takes out the mysterious and crazy factor in it's ride that tones down the experience.

I would go Fate/Stay Night first because it is the original story than Zero because it's the prequel it shows how the story gets to the point that it starts in Stay Night.

I think the point of Zero is to add more to the story of Stay Night.

Really I don't think there's a wrong choice both are good and both are worth watching.

Tbh, I feel like I should make a watch order guide thread for the whole Nasuverse as well as answer some of the common questions. Too many people don't know what Nasuverse is or that Fate is a part of a multiverse that has more than just the events of Fate occuring in it and too many people recommend Zero first to newcomers.

I was told the order was fate zero then UBW.

A lot of people suffer from getting told the wrong watch order due to the massive amount of anime only fans, who didn't read the visual novel and have really no knowledge on anything, go around telling people Fate/Zero should be seen first because Ufotable adapted it into an anime first and because it takes place before Stay Night's events.

Unfortunately, they just spoiled you on a lot of plot twists in F/SN by recommending you this order, but F/SN will remain a great experience either way. However, you're not going to have the crazy amount of plot twists and mystery factor anymore due to this which is not as apparent in UBW as it is in Fate and HF.

Either way, it matters a bit less if you go anime-only for Stay Night because F/SN's anime adaptions in general are pretty terrible. Ufotable had the chance to pull it off, but gave it to their worst director who's first project was also a failure and just happened to admit he does not understand the characters so he's just altering them and cutting out their characterization. Also, because UBW expects you to have prior knowledge from the Fate route - which is the starting point of the Fate/ series, but has no anime adaption.

TL;DR; Mystery and crazy plot twists factors are gonna be taken out for you, but F/SN's still gonna be great. If you're in for the story, symbolism, parallels, etc. and characterization rather than the fights and animation, you should read the Visual Novel because the anime alters personality traits of the characters and cuts out a massive amount of characterization as well as some of the story events or backgrounds

I think both are worth watching. FSN doesn't have as good of a budget as UBW but still nice.
