well you actually have to start with Fate/Stay night fisrt Fate/Zero is actually a prequel its the events that took place before Fate/Stay night

I watch Fate/Stay night first, but Fate/Zero is the well written series out of the two...but Fate/Stay night came out first.
If you want to start the series from the beginning ..then watch Fate/Stay night, but if you want the better part of the series....then watch Fate/Zero....

Fate Stay Night, so that you wont complain about the animation quality compared to Fate Stay Zero, though I didn't mind it. Besides, Fate Stay Night came out first so might as well enjoy watching it in order (even though the timeline is not in chronological order).

Had a similar situation.
A Certain Magical Index came out with a "Side story" series revolving around Mikoto Misaka, which was taking place before the events of Index, it's called A Certain Scientific Railgun. I was panicking about whether I should watch Railgun or Index first, and found out I was freaking out for no reason, because it doesn't alter anything in any way.
I suggest you watch Fate/Stay Night and then watch Fate/Zero as I watched Index and then Railgun, because it feels like you will catch more things inside of the prequels than you would watching the prequels first.
