I know it's been a while since I uploaded a chapter, but Chapter 11 is finally here. I hope Chapter 12 will come soon, but it might take time for it. What happens in Chapter 12 is something I'm usually not good at, so I'll have to work as hard as possible to make it sound good. I'm not a fan of the beginning of this chapter, but I really love the ending of this chapter. <3

Note: It is in Kota's PoV again. :)

Chapter 11

He clicked on the link, and it redirected him to an article. It appeared that Men Rev Tong, a well-known reporter, had created the article. At the top of the page was just the date, year, and location. What surprised him the most is that the location was Mifugi, their town, and that the incident happened right before Mavi was absent. He didn't remember the news mentioning any deaths from seven years ago, yet there was an article online about the case. 'I'm just over thinking the whole thing. It was seven years ago; of course my memory would be foggy after seven years.' After the basic information on the article, he started to read the article.

It was a late Sunday night when the police arrived at the scene at the border of the town, the two children were already covered in blood. While they were waiting for the paramedics to arrive, they took a look at the two children on the ground. They identified one as a girl, and the other as a boy, and both of them were only little kids. They couldn't identify if both children were injured, or if only one were injured.

When the paramedics arrived on the scene they instantly separated the two bodies from each other, and examined the bodies. It took them about half an hour until they revealed that the boy was shot and killed, and that the girl was still alive, just unconscious. The names were unknown, but the children were sent to the hospital. The police continued their investigation, but no suspects were found.

A boy and a girl, but no names were mentioned. It could have been Mavi, but there was also the possibility it could have been anyone. The article wasn't that descriptive, and it seemed abnormally short. Deaths were taken seriously in their town, but the article made it seem like they didn't even try. He went to the border before, and it was a big area. If he were in the police he would have closed the section off, and would have investigated the full area. He would even turn over rocks for a slight clue. Yet, the article made it seem like they only did a brief investigation. Did Men Rev Tong really write this article? He read some of his other articles before, and they were very descriptive, especially with the investigation. It was possible that whoever wrote the article just using Men Rev Tong's name, but what reason could there have been to use his name?

If the girl was Mavi, then the boy could have been her friend. If Tatsuki was there whenever the shooting happened then he knew what really happened. Those two that attacked Mavi the other day were involved in it somehow too. The day he called the cops to save Mavi from them, the day he took a bullet to save her. Their goal, and their attacks didn't add up. They wanted to change the world, but they only attacked him and Mavi. They started to attack them directly after the government building, but nothing added up. 'Koyuki, what did you tell me? What were you trying to say?'

Everything was just annoying him. Why did he even join Mavi in the first place? He could have lived a normal life if he would have just walked away. Why did he take a bullet to save her? He barely knew her, even though they were partners. They never had a real, normal conversation. Even with all that, he still couldn't explain the emotions he felt when he thought about her! When he first seen her cry he felt so angry, like he wanted to get rid of whatever caused them. Then whenever she was in danger he didn't care about anything else, he only wanted to save her. How could he have felt like that, when he hasn't even been around Mavi that long? He could end everything by turning off his computer, and forgetting everything.

He got rid of those thoughts. Thinking about leaving Mavi behind caused him pain; a pain he couldn't explain. He was going to save Mavi, and no doubts would change that! He had to believe in himself, Mavi, and their powers. If he believed then there was no way he would have any doubts, even though he was frustrated at the dead end.

“What am I supposed to do now!?” he yelled angrily.

He heard a small sound, and then he looked on the floor. The orb that helped him earlier was on the ground, out of his pocket. The spirit was no longer able to help him, but the orb still had its natural color. He expected the purple to fade away, but it didn't.

He picked up the orb, and for a second there was a bright light. 'What was that?' He looked around the room, and there was no sign of the light. He shook his head. He was probably hallucinating since he was at a dead end. He looked at the computer screen, and was about to close out of the website, but he stopped at the last second. Men Rev Tong's name was moving around; turning into a different name. It first turned into a jumble of letters, then it started to unscramble itself. The letters kept on mixing around until it spelled out 'Government.'

That changed everything; that was the clue they were missing, most likely. He placed the orb back in his pocket, and ran out of his room. If he was right, then he had to head to the border of town.

“Where do you think you're going, Kota?” his Dad asked seriously.

He turned around to look where his Dad and Mom were standing at. His Mom was on the verge of tears, while his Dad looked angry. He didn't want to worry them, but he had no choice. They wouldn't understand the situation if he told them. If they believed him, they would have told him to forget about it while he still could, and that Mavi was old enough to take care of herself. Although there was no possibility of them believing everything that happened.

“I'm heading outside. I have stuff I need to do,” he said calmly.

“You can't go out there!” his Mom cried. “It's too dangerous! We're already worried sick about Eita, please don't leave!”

His Mom's sadness was like an arrow in his heart, but he couldn't allow her tears to stop him. Before Tatsuki entered in his life he would have listened to his parents, but he had to do what was right. He had to do what was best for his parents. They didn't know it, but his actions could protect them. “You don't understand everything yet. All we're being told to do is live in fear! We shouldn't have to live in fear in our own town! Fear is a cage, and we're being locked inside too easily!” he shouted before he ran out the door. He didn't want to hear anymore from them, otherwise he might have changed his mind.

To think that the reporter Men Rev Tong was most likely the government. If that was the case, then that article could have been a lie! If there was information the government didn't want to get out, then they could have easily left it out of the article. It didn't explain why Tatsuki hated the government, but the answers had to at the border of town! Tatsuki would target any area if he thought it was related to government, so he might be there, along with Mavi. His lungs felt like they were burning, and his brain was telling him to stop running. His heart told him to keep running, though. If he listened to his brain then he could have been too late, but if he listened to his heart he might see Mavi.

'Mavi, I finally got a hint as to where you might be at. Please, wait for me. Fight for your freedom, Mavi!' he told himself. He believed Mavi would be there when he arrived; he believed in her will!

The border was finally in sight, and what he first saw surprised him. Koyuki was standing there, looking around. He was out of breath, but he slowly approached her, and made sure to stay out of sight. He thought she wanted to go home, why was she there? She shouldn't have been there unless she lived around there.

“Where are you? I heard what you were talking about! Tell me you were joking, right?” she called out loudly.

What was she doing!? Who was she even calling out to? Calling out to someone around that area was not the best idea, especially if Tatsuki might have been planning on destroying it. “Koyu-” he started before a group of guys with guns came out of the warehouses. What surprised him the most was that he recognized one of the guys. Senji was standing among them, with a smirk on his face. He thought Senji got arrested for attempted murder.

“Koyuki!” he exclaimed as he ran to her; as he heard the sound of gun shots. He wasn't going to allow her to die! He failed protecting Mavi, but he didn't intend to fail protecting Koyuki! He was tired of being weak; he was going to get stronger!

“Wow!” Koyuki said like she just walked into a candy store.

There was water in front of them, and trapped within the water were the bullets. He never thought about using his power, yet it saved them. He didn't even feel a difference inside his body when the water appeared. Maybe they were looking at their powers the wrong way!

“A-A monster!” Senji yelled with anger. “A girl similar to that guy killed my brother!”

“You're calling me a monster, after you tried to kill a little girl?” Kota asked in a mocking voice. “If I'm the monster, then take your bullets back!”

The water reacted as he spoke, and the bullets shot out of the water back toward the men with guns. He was shocked that the water actually listened to him, but at the same time he was happy. He was improving his battling skills, meaning he could save Mavi. Senji, and a few others, were just barely able to dodge the bullets. All the other men appeared to be too shocked to move out of the way. As long as he had control over the water, then he could win.

Then his luck went down hill, along with the water. His water shield fell to the ground, and he stared at the ground. He thought he had control of the water, but he didn't command it to stop.

“Men, don't hesitate! Use this opportunity to kill the monster!” Senji shouted in a frustrated tone.

Was that where he would fall? He didn't accomplish anything, and he didn't even graduate from high school yet. They wouldn't let Koyuki go; she would die. “I'm sorry,” he said softly, “I'm sorry, Mavi.” There was no future for him, but he did not fear death. He would not be locked inside a cage when he died; he would be free.

Just as he heard the roar of the guns, he heard someone scream, “No!” He turned around for what he thought would be the last time, and stared with utter disbelief at what he saw.

Author's Note:
It actually came out better than I expected, to be honest. I know there's probably a lot of things that need improvement in this chapter, I just can't notice them all the time. So if you see any mistakes, please let me know! :)

Right at the end, where you say "with utter disbelief at what he seen", it oughta be "in utter disbelief at what he saw". Other than that, it's well-written and well done:D So glad you're getting these out againxd
