Since Sasuke is a very misunderstood character, I will answer some of the frequently asked qestions about him.
Q. Why is Sasuke so mean?
A. Sasuke suffered a lot of pain and trauma in his past. He feels misunderstood and alone and can't really interact well with others.
Q. Why did Sasuke betray Konoha and join Orochimaru to get more power?
A. Itachi made Sasuke's life all about revenge. At first he thought if he was a ninja in Konoha he would eventually get his revenge. However when Itachi said he was more interested in Naruto (Sasuke didn't know yet that Naruto was a Jinchuriki), when he lost to Itachi, and when he saw the power of Naruto's Rasengan, he started to get angry and realize that he couldn't get his revenge while staying in Konoha.
Q. If Sasuke cares about Itachi, shouldn't he want to fulfill Itachi's wish and defend Konoha rather than destroy it?
A. It is because Sasuke loves Itachi that he wants to destroy Konoha. Obito made Sasuke believe that Konoha coerced and drove Itachi into a corner and left him with no choice but to destroy the Uchiha clan. In other words, he feels that Konoha forced the person he loved most to kill his entire family while they lived peacefully at the cost of the lives of Itachi and the Uchiha.
Q. If girls hit on Sasuke all the time, why doesn't he respond. Does that make him homosexual?
A. As I said earlier, Sasuke's pain and trauma took away his ability to interact with others. Even when he was on team 7 and Taka, there was always a barrier between him and his teammates.
