It was a clear and beautiful day. The skies were completely blue and the clouds virtually non-existent.
Shikamaru’s eye twitched. He could not believe he had lost….for the third time.
‘There are no clouds today….must mean my day is going to be filled with bad luck’ Shikamaru sighed while thinking to himself.
“Gwahahahahahahaha!” Naruto laughed “Scissors beats paper. I win again! So what game next?” he continued as he jumped in happiness at having beaten Shikamaru in a game continuously.
“I'm sorry Naruto-kun! But the hokage has requested for Shikamaru’s presence” Said an Anbu who had just arrived in their midst.
‘Tch!’ Shikamaru started “I guess we’ll have our rematch later Naruto”
“Sure! And maybe next time, we’ll have a bet” Naruto replied.
“Well, we’ll see about that” Shikamaru smirked before hopping off to the hokage tower with the anbu.
Naruto watched Shikamaru disappear from his sight before lying on his back. ‘What to do next?’ he thought to himself.
Mission requests to konoha and the other great ninja villages had reduced due to the victory of the shinobi alliance at the fourth great ninja war. The mission requests they did receive were just meager requests suitable for genins and not for a jounin/sage as himself except on rare occasions. The world was almost literally at peace.
Naruto smiled. He had not yet become hokage as Tsunade was still going strong but everyone already acknowledges him and Sasuke was back. Although in custody but he was very co-operative. All was well in his life.
“Hmmm...and cloud gazing is boring. I guess I’ll just go practice the new wind jutsu my dad thought me” He said to himself before leaping towards the forest to get to the training ground.
Elsewhere, Team 8 had just finished a training session and decided to rest before calling it a day and going to their homes. They found a comfortable spot in the forest beside a small creek where the water sparkled and was so inviting. Kiba together with Akamaru picked a spot under the shade of a large tree while Shino picked another tree to lean on. Hinata on the other hand could not resist the sparkle of the water and kicked off her sandals before entering the creek.
“C-Cold” Hinata laughed as she skipped in the water. “Shino-kun, Kiba-kun! The water’s nice. You should join me”
“Yes I should. But I can’t. That’s because I might put I and my bugs in a precario…”
“No need to creep us out” Kiba said interrupting Shino “thanks Hinata. But this shade is just fine”
Hinata pouted a little after being declined by her teammates.
“Akamaru! What about you? Want to join me?”
Hinata shrieked with laughter as Akamaru ‘woof-ed’ and literally cannon balled beside her creating a large splash radius drenching each of them from head to foot.
“Ugh! Don’t do that Akamaru. You got me wet too”
Hinata giggled at the ugh-ish expression kiba had on his face “Don’t be mad Kiba kun. He was just having a little fun. Weren't you, Akamaru?” She continued as she removed her jacket and set it at the edge of the creek to dry.
Akamaru barked in agreement. He then jumped on Kiba pinning him under his paws and then shook himself hard drenching Kiba more. “Argh! That’s it Akamaru. I am gonna get you for this!!” Kiba cried before he proceeded to chase Akamaru who kept running in circles.
Hinata laughed hard as she watched Kiba finally apprehend Akamaru and began wrestling with him.
Shino was smiling at the scene too but suddenly stiffened when he realized they were being watched. He looked straight at Kiba who nodded positively knowing what Shino was thinking. But then they both relaxed when they felt the chakra of the intruder. They both put their gazes on Hinata who was just twirling and skipping in the water. Her eyes closed and her mind elsewhere, she was clearly unaware of the intruder causing a smirk from both Kiba and Shino.
“Hmph” Shino smirked as he returned to his position.
‘Hehe Naruto… Do you like what you see?’ Kiba mentally asked himself
Naruto had been on his way to the training ground when he heard sounds and decided to check it out. A small smile lit his face as he realized they were his friends and proceeded to get closer to yell out a greeting to them. But just as he was about to call out to them, his body froze.
‘Eh?’ He mentally asked himself.
He watched in enthralment as the blue haired girl happily skipped around in the river. Her long hair flowing freely behind her and her eyes sparkling with joy.
‘Is this Hinata?’ He asked himself again. He thought to himself about if he had ever seen Hinata so carefree and laughing this way but all he could come up with were just images of her looking sick with the usual signs of cold on her cheeks, looking downwards and rightwards as she talked to him and then there was the serious look she gave him during the war.
Naruto took off as he realized they were gearing up to leave and he wouldn't be able to give an excuse on why he was spying if they caught him. As he took a giant leap, his mind went back to what he had just seen. His heart made an irregular beat as a light blush stained his cheeks.
‘I have to hear her laugh again’ He told himself.
