Hey guys. I wrote this poem tonight about oppression and it's consequences. I drew historically on the mental image of the "Fall of Rome" to stand as a metaphor for anyone, really, who oversteps their bounds and doesn't respect other people. It always comes back to get you in the end.

Anyway, tell me how it is - I'm trying to get better with my writing. Here it is... hope you like it! =D

The Fall of Rome

The hardest blow of all is one you never see coming
The Scarlet snowfall on the remnants unbecoming
Of the fallen hierarchy, gild the silent mask of power
Blue fire in the darkness, chills the last and final hour

The lower that you hold them all the harder you will fall
It’s said what goes up, must come down, after all
Too often one is blinded by a way of life so grand
They suppress the human spirit, will they never understand?

Could they never learn to see things my way or yours?
See the surely coming storm before their own blood pours?
Maybe with their will gone and all their walls burned down,
They will see the fool’s gold that has weighted down their crown

But mourn not for the tyrants cast down, long gone
Face the once and future king that would use you as his pawn
If such evil he would use, let the fire be his home
As his walls and towers burn, once again, Fall of Rome
