Did you seriously expect them to let a small child be killed right in front of their eyes? Besides considering they said the kid's father is rebellious, he might have a future use like giving thorough info on the AE and/or help them to sneak into the empire or something along those lines.

And Gajeel was just flirting with Levi and the only thing Cana did was making fun of other people, so if you're then nitpicking on Natsu's lame joke because of Makarov's situation, then you're just complaining for the sake of complaining. Comedy has always been a part of this series and they're barely halfway to the border of the AE.

I think it's safe to assume there is a limit to Mest's magic. If he freely could make everyone forget/remember anything, his mission shouldn't have taken that long, still it took him almost a decade. It might be enough to cover this incident up, but it's highly doubtful he can just start brainwashing an entire empire or just about any strong mage.

Not in shonen manga no, but at least have mest save him with his teleportion and lead the guards away instead of attacking them as a group which is both stupid and unnecessary,since one of them could easily handle the job and let the others pass by. And I have never implied in any way that gajeel wasn't being dumb or hasn't made any jokes, I just said "even gajeel understands" implying that he was smart enough to know that they'd lose in full scale war. And yeah, wasting your leaders dreams and effort by making a dumb move and on top of that throw some jokes out knowing that you've done messed up is really childish.

The spoilers were somewhat misleading, mest will probably clean up the mess, although I don't think mest can manipulate memories to large extent, I think only a small part of there memory

Actually it just means that he's mature enough to know that they aren't strong to beat the enemies, if he was a coward he wouldn't have made team B nor would he even think about going there, Gajeel's power puts him above most of the people in team A except for natsu and mest. A full war with an army is indeed a losing fight for FT,noting is wrong with admitting it, matter of fact, it's better to expect the worst if you're fighting the unknown.

May I ask you how long you read Fairy tail? Are you okay kid? I could see this from miles away, and if you didn't then you should stop reading FT. After all those chapters, arcs and many more you still think they would roll like that? A kid is in the brink of death and you think that Mest would just teleport the lil' fellow outta there? The infiltration mission hasn't failed, the Empire already knows its been infiltrated that's why they are hunting the spy.

The mission only fails if they get captured and/or can't reach their goal.

The mission is simply much more complicated and difficult now.

For the people who have forgotten it: Natsu already once played ninja before somewhere in the very first chapters of the series when he was doing a mission in the mansion of that perverted duke. Also I'm pretty sure it's not the first time either Erza is wearing a strawhat as she has worn similar get-ups when they were on the beach in previous arcs. So I sincerely doubt that either of these are intentional references to Naruto and OP, with the exception of Natsu screaming "no jutsu".

Assuming Mest can teleport fast enough to the child and then teleport again away with the child before the sword strikes him, that still wouldn't stop the rest of them attacking. It's not like they first had a chat and devised a battle strategy that would be the most efficient, they all acted on impulse. So it's questionable, especially in the case of Natsu who is very hot-headed, that even if Mest would have saved the kid first, that it would have avoided Natsu and the rest beating those soldiers. For that there was simply no time. It's very unreasonable to assume that they all could come up non-verbally with the best way to handle the matter in the timespan less than 5 seconds.

And my point about Gajeel was that you for some reason solely pick on Natsu for having inappropriate comical behavior despite the fact that countless of characters do it all the time. How is Natsu making a ninja joke inappropriate because of Makarov's situation, but Gajeel flirting not? Then you are intentionally finding excuses to complain about Natsu as its highly questionable that most of the other FT members would not have tried to save the child. So apparently it would have been ok if Natsu would have just had a stern face? If making jokes because of Makarov's situation is inappropriate for you, then you should be over countless of characters, but still only Natsu gets it. That's laughable.

Awesome Chapter!.Now I am getting more and more view about the continent of Ishgar.Seems like this arc is going to be a long one and we are heading towards the continent of Arakitashia.I wonder what type of intel that unnamed spy gathered.I hope he says something about the condition of Makarov and what he did this past year.Liking the design of Albareth foot soldiers.Mashima sensei just said in twitter that a new character will be introduced in next chapter.Hope Spy joins the FT Guild.

Thinking about all of this infiltration strategy I don't think this infiltration has failed yet.It will surely be failed atleast when the FT members set a foot near Albareth Capital.About what happened in today's chapter it is very possible Mest can easily clear this problem by erasing the memories of those four/five soldiers there.So there won't be any problem.I think it is the supposed and usual conclusion for this chapter.Really would have hated if Kid got injured or killed infront of the FT members.That is not FT at all.Saving the kid at the blink of death.....Good old times.

Even if mest stopped the troops from killing the kid I doubt it will go unnoticed.The outcome will not be any different from what it is now at the end of this chapter.Also I don't think Mest is supposed to stop the kid from dying.Mest was never a full-fledged member of the FT.He indeed is a Guild member but he had his life faking out all the way through now in the manga.And Mest didn't showed any intentions of saving the kid in this chapter.His objective is inflitration and that is what is running through his mind now.He is a duty-bounded man.it should be Team Natsu who should be saving that kid and Mashima sensei very nicely handled it out.This is Mashima's way to show that FT member's caring,thinking aren't changed a bit even after one-year timeskip during which the guild has been disbanded.

Loving the Ninja-actions by Natsu and overall comical relief in this chapter.Loved the way how Gajeel responded to Levy for leaving her alone.lol.I am surprised Gajeel has Panther Lily plushie in his bag.Xd.Some funny teasing of Ever and Elfman in this chapter.Can't wait to see the reactions of Ever and Elf when they see each other in the next chapters or so.Juvia upset as usual for not being with Gray.Disguising as a tourists of the Caracol island is the best strategy I suppose.They all fitted into their roles as a tourists who are looking to have enjoying at the beach and having their share of fun.That little kid is daring and those Soldiers are menacing as hell.

Next chapter is named as "Rules of the area...." by CR.I guess it has something to do with some rules laid down by the empire or caracol island.
