In the end there is no difference between wiki saying that it's Romeo and someone in this thread saying it's Romeo.

Though I hope it's him as then I can rub it in Mugi's face.

If it isn't him, Romeo should look this guy up, take a DNA test and have a long talk with his mother.

Well I believe the guild is not DEAD because the manga would end if they were.
and also this is the beginning of a new arc, remember the last arc? they were in an alternate reality!

Here are my thoughts

1. Remember before the Exam started Makarov said that they were called fairy tail because Mavis saw a real fairy? Well I believe that girl was a fairy and saved the guild because she admired the fairy tail member's bond to protect each other.

OR the Fairy girl took the guild to the future to SHOW them how bad the future is and that they need to stop it from happening in the present.

2. They most likely traveled to the future. (Time Magic)

3. The boy at the end was Romeo not Zeref.

4. I was really shocked when i read those last two pages but then I realized that it wasnt a total shock because the last arc they were in another dimension 0__o and now they're in the future so it isnt much a surprise

Mavis never saw a fairy, or in the least Makarov nor anyone else has ever said that. Also it has been stated a long time ago by Makarov that the reason as why they're called Fairy Tail is because it's an eternal mystery. Whether fairies have tails or not or that they even exist at all is an eternal search.

then, you have the fact that, not only Zeref knows Natsu, but he also seem to adore him and also ADMIRE HIM.

Romeo always dreamed of becoming a Mage, and then 7 years later he's branded by a mark.

Also, if Zeref/Romeo went into the abyss of magic, then he must've known Time Arc, and thus maybe leading him to go back in time where he would ACTUALLY BE Zeref the dark mage.

Nyway, just suppositions and theories, but I'm damn serious.

Nah, makes no sense. Romeo has made several appearances in the manga without a care in the world and in this arc Zeref made an appearance, however he's completely the opposite. He avoids all contact and kills people and animals around him, not to mention he's bigger and older. How could Romeo become suddenly bigger, older and disappear without anyone, even his father, noticing it? Macao was just being his usual self at the start of this arc.

Seriously you need to make some real far-fetched theories to make that work and it would be completely without a solid basis. So it would be nothing more than a wild guess.

Insane twist! I will be very sad & disappointed if there is a fairy tail ” reboot” & all the characters ever grown so fond of (ERZA rocks!) are no more, though I don't think that'll be the case. I don't think that is ” zeref jr.” There was a boy shown looking for Natsu while the gang was on the island & this is most likely that boy 7 years later.

The funny thing is that we could have known. If you take another look at "the boy who stares at the sea" and on the last page we have the same scene as this week but the newspaper that is flying in front of "the boy" says the date is year X791 very small. But I guess no one ever noticed it back then.

I kinda understand your theory, but showing Romeo 7 years later... meaning romeo + Natsu and friends VS Zeref/Romeo future self(even further into future)? Its kinda... too big scale.

Actually Macao wouldn't notice anything, cause if zeref/romeo travelled time, from the future of our current fairy tail, to its past, it doesn't affect our Romeo at all. I just think you misunderstood what I said.

And anyway, what is too big-scale in a world of dragons and magic with parallel world and mass-killing flute created by some Japanese author who just lets everyone think he killed all his main characters and is following with a 7-year timeskip?
