i gotta disagree on all 3 counts.
First off, Naruto made it pretty clear that he didn't have any killing intentions the whole way through that fight. Naruto basically restricted himself from using his best moves, because his best moves were either the TBRS or the TBBRS, and i don't recall either being used.
Secondly, Madara told Hashirama when he last saw him prior to their VotE fight that he had every intention to kill Hashirama when they met on the battlefield because he assumed Hashirama didn't have it in him to do the same to him. Considering all the atks he threw at Hashirama and what he did to the clone he thought was Hashirama, Madara couldn't have made his intentions any clearer. Prepping Izanagi in his eye was simply a backup plan in case he was the one who ended up dead. What actually ended up happening wasn't what was in his plans.
Third, Itachi being stronger than Orochimaru hardly equates to him being stronger than the other 2 Sannin. It's perfectly arguable that Jiraiya and Tsunade were stronger than Orochimaru at that point in time. As it stands, Orochimaru was only said to be the smartest of the 3 and not the strongest fighter of the 3. Those 2 are not the same thing unless it was absolutely stated by at least one of the other 2 that it was undeniably the case, and i don't recall such a statement ever being made.
