as i said before and will say for the last time, minato did not win a fight he died in and so did his wife. i never said tobi himself killed minato so don't put words in my mouth please. Tobi's actions were the catalyst for minato basically being forced to commit suicide. tobi killed the fourths wife when you think about it lol. It is obvious minato is skilled, i never doubted that. but when you put the fight into perspective minato is strong as H** but greatly overrated. Minato has only shown us that he can send objects to other special kunai, and he uses seals for speed. his reaction time is great but his raw speed with out justu is unknown.

During the fight with tobi minato did quickly figure out tobi technique (smart man). Yet during the very next move tobi figured him out but got countered and hit. that was the end of their fight but tobi had already basically killed minatos wife, and the biju tobi unleashed would in the end kill minato. so how is it that minato gets praised for such a epic fail? i understand folks like the char, but facts are facts. I have no favs i just enjoy the show as a whole :D

I haven't read other threads, someone might have answered in the same way.

I am not here to support minato but to clarify few things. The judgement of failure or success depends on the objectives defined and achieved. If the objective of Minato was to save wife and himself then he failed, if the objective of Minato was to save Konoha then he succeeded. Also, by saving Naruto he actually created a hurdle in the way of Madara and Tobi to achieve their goals, which is a success of Minato. From Tobi stand point, if his objective was to kill minato and his wife then he succeeded but failed to wipe out the village. Eventually, failed to proceed for the Moon eye.

I hope I am able to explain my point.

One thing more: people dying in a war doesn't mean they failed, they safe the whole country and we celebrate the victories, thanks to their sacrifices.

WTF is this? Minato chose to die, so I'm not sure where you're getting the crap about Tobi forcing him to die.

This thread is such an epic fail. Minato bested Tobi, stripped him of the kyuubi, made him flee like a bitch, and saved the village from the kyuubi. That's not what I would call an epic fail like you seem to claim.

Your thread on the other hand I wouldn't hesitate on calling it one.

This escpecially the bold part, he chose to die even kushina said there is no point in him dying but what he did was destiny anyway it was supposed to happen this way so that the prophecy child (naruto) can defeat the big threat (tobi) told by the elder toad sage. If it wasnt because of destiny minato could have let hiruzen interfere and help them as well as the ninjas that were with him.

If there weren't more pressing matters to attend to, if ANBU trained better guards, Minato would've been able to solo Tobi, the only reason he "beat" Minato is because he took the Nine-Tails. And Minato even says himself that you have to put the lives of the citizens before the life of yourself when you become Kage.

If Tobi was to go one on one with Minato, no Tailed-Beasts, no Naruto, no Kushina, no Konoha, Minato would come out on top.

Because he didn't fail; yes he died but he protected the village showing True animated courage in the process. His failure was more of a success in many eyes both fake and real.

Fact: Kushina was fine after the Bijuu was extracted. What did kill her was the attack from Kyuubi when they were doing the Eight Trigrams Seal.

Minato decided to die for the sake of Konoha, he could have as well flown off and let the kyuubi destroy Konoha. You clearly have a small attention span. :flaw:

minato kind of chose to die that shows you what tobi is capable of minato had no other way but to give his life so tobi wins this round with kurama help but a win is a win why are we still talking about this

Minato is superior. I disagree with your 60% for Tobi and 40% for Minato? Minato has to think of Naruto, Kushina, Tobi, Konoha and Kurama. He did not think of killing Tobi only. Also he released Kurama in control of Tobi in minutes. Tobi was even lucky Minato fought with liabilities behind but still won with flying colors ( fast and efficient ). You mentioned Tobi was confident that he will be able to grab and kill Minato but failed where he failed. In that case Minato is superior not just by skill(using counter techniques) but intelligence as well because he was able to counter all of the attacks of Tobi wherein Tobi has no answer at all.

Tobi's S/T ninjutsu is still superior to Minato's and Tobirama's. You are right about Minato having to concentrate on saving others as well as Tobi had to concentrate on maintaining the fox under his control. They both had liabilities.

I would give Minato the better intelligence but I wouldn't count their intelligence to be far off. I didn't see Tobi attempt genjutsu on Minato the same way he ended Konan's life.

Though I am starting to side more towards Minato's offense since Tobi didn't have a good one until he obtained the Rinnegan. He could always warp his opponents unless they are able to execute teleportation or, in Minato's case, FTG in an instant.

Now i'm siding to a 50/50 chance for both. Tobi having intangibility and better S/T along with a good defense. Minato making up with his better offense and faster FTG. Though Minato said that his S/T was inferior to Tobi's, Minato's self-teleportation is still faster than Tobi's since it takes longer for Tobi to warp himself than others.

I don't see the exact scenario happening again. Just like how Shikamaru defeated Hidan who was stronger than him, I don't see Shikamaru winning a second time against him. Minato is able to defeat Tobi as it was shown, but it still isn't impossible for Tobi to win a fight against him either. Or atleast to the point of being able to cast genjutsu on Minato unless Minato is immune to genjutsu.

Well i'll grade Minato with a 55% and the previous Tobi with a 45%. They wouldn't be far off though but you were right. Minato did manage to outsmart Tobi in that scenario. It isn't impossible for Tobi to do the same but i'll take it as Minato's intelligence to be above his as well but not far off either. Tobi was capable of planning ahead towards his plan.

I'm not so sure whether Tobi is capable of casting genjutsu without making eye contact though. If he can, then I'll grade him above Minato unless Minato could counter his genjutsu. Considering that he was able to control a perfect jinjuuriki for years, i'll think that his genjutsu is capable of so much more than the credit he's being given.

As for the fox killing Minato, Minato is the one who killed himself to seal the fox. Besides, Tobi might have unleashed the fox but during the time Minato was dying, the fox wasn't under his control so it wasn't serving as his weapon. Tobi vs Minato ended when Minato broke Tobi's control over the fox. Perhaps even when Minato managed to hit Tobi with Rasengan.

It's just like saying that Kabuto sealed Nagato(Kabuto) since he was the one who unleashed Itachi. Itachi wasn't under Kabuto's control anymore so he wasn't serving as his weapon. Therefore, it doesn't count as Kabuto's victory. In fact, Nagato was the one the Kabuto was controlling so Kabuto lost in that scenario.

During the time where Minato was pretty much sealing himself to seal the fox, Kurama wasn't under Tobi's control therefore it doesn't count as Tobi's victory. I also wouldn't completely say that Minato lost to the fox. The fox wasn't the one who defeated Minato since Minato killed himself. Minato was the one who manged to defeat the fox even if it was through a seal that costed his life.

Woah, what a mess...

First of all, Minato kicked tobi's ass and made him flee "run away", Tobi couldnt go through Minato, lol, It was like a barrier that Tobi couldnt overcome and he realised that so he had to flee.

Minato, just did what he had to do, as a Hokage he was his duty was to protect the village and so he did, doesnt matter what it took. He sacrificed himself in order to defeat Tobi bcuz he new that Tobi was planning something even greater than what he wanted to do whislt controling the kurama.
Minato is a hero, Kushina didnt die after having a fox yanked out of her, she stood alive and she had the strengh to pet Kurama, that means she could've lived if Minato wasnt thinking about that freaking big seal...

You might come again and say that it was a matter of time for Kushina's death but u're wrong bcuz she survived the killing process (extraction) isnt it enough to grasp that she could still alive? Just to refresh your memory, after having Kyuubi yanked of, she even had a time to rest holding her child in her arms... Furthermore she looked great while petting Kurama just a little tired.
And when you did state the fact that jinchurriki dies after having the beast yanked out you didnt mention that Kushina didnt die while after the extraction so it shows what u knew till now... Before opening threads like these please make yourself clear and dont go against the truth without even taking it like an opinion.

Now, see tobi as Minato and Minato as Tobi... Wouldnt you think that Minato could destroy that village? Do you really think that Tobi could even stop Minato? Lmfao

Bro you're trying to troll, and you're failing hard!
Fact: tobi planned out the attack for a LONG time, everything he did, he had planned it.

Fact: in just 2-3 min time, Minato uncovered his secrets and crapped all over tobi's "plans"

You say tobi released the kyuubi, thus killing Minato. Well he released it to gain control of it, which was only good until minato decided to strip him of it. If anything, the kyuubi did what tobi failed to do, which was to actually put a dent in Minato.

Tobi is an epic fail, bro, not Minato; why? Because even with all the time in the world to plan an attack, ONE MAN ruined it in no time what-so-ever. Then he took off again for 16 years to plan another attack, and that ONE MAN'S son is now picking up where his dad left off. xd

well this says it best. Dude i get your saying you gave minatohis props and all that, and you want facts but the main fact is tobi got his ass kicked hard and lost what he came there for in the 1st place. No more facts needed but that.

If I'm not mistaken, this is exactly the type of "cause & effect" that the creator was trying to tell us..

I really hope this explanation will somehow enlighten his brilliant mind!

lol some of you guys take a freaking cartoon char to far lmao. sure i fail at life because we disagree on who lost more in a fictional fight lol. lmao i refuse to stoop to some of your level of debate. it's funny how everyone who so called read and understood what i was saying is repeating what i already gave minato props on. tobi was and is the antagonist and base for everything that happened to naruto's parents. to say otherwise is simply foolish, That's like me saying tobi's plans were not prolonged that day. smfh lol some of you guys call me unwilling to see it your way when if you read my main post i have already acknowledged minato was bad ass with out having to give a whole summary of what he did in fight to make his overall lost seem better lol. But the fact still remains tobi was the base for all that happend (it's called a plot)

If I'm not mistaken, this is exactly the type of "cause & effect" that the creator was trying to tell us..

this was already noted and nothing i would disagree with. so why post things as if i would not agree with the logic? yet again people who are putting words in my mouth. and yes if kabuto bought itachi back then yes he would be indirectly responsible for itachi's actions. it's not like itachi bought himself back to be the base for any chain reactions he would cause. Life is one big cause and reactions with people being the base of certain events in particular time lines in our lives.

failed thread minato chose to die and kushina was perfect she got killed bu the kuibi

minato made a choice based on the situation tobi put him in. and my post clearly says tobi killed him but i acknowledge it was not directly but his hands in the same main post. honestly it's like minato fans need hooked on phonics lmao.
