• Obito has asked Sakura to destroy his Rinnegan.
• Sakura has been asked to destroy something that the Most powerful villain so far in the series needs to increase his chance at success.
• Madara is most likely throwing the chakra rod at Sakura to stop her from granting Obitos request which will limit his power.

Now has Sakura's relevance been consistent thought the entire series or that of a main character? Hell No! But in the present manga she is completely relevant.
