Kakashi's MS awakened at the same time when Obito's did, that is after Rin died...so I guess its Obito who awakened the MS for both due something like sharingan eyes resonance lets say. But nonetheless for a non uchiha and someone not possesing senju or uzumaki body, Kakashi's mastery and efficiency came close to one the best of the uchihas like Itachi and Shisui.
