Tekishutsu (Extraction)

One of the most important things you'll be learning in medical school. One of the most common things to happen to a ninja on the battle field, or simply around the ninja world is to get a foreign object lodged somewhere in his or her body. This could either be from self inflicting wounds, to self-damaging effects of techniques utilized, or even from opposing enemy techniques. Normally, this poses an issue as these objects tend to be weapons which are normally designed to inflict even more damage when forcefully removed from your flesh. Medical ninjas, however, can use this skill to, in tandem with other skills you'll learn like blood coagulation for example, remove an object lodged in a body without further damaging the tissue around it. So, when a patient's body has a foreign object in it, such as the point of a shuriken, a senbon needle, or an arrow, it is important to remove the object without further harming the patient. Using this technique the Medical Ninja places their hands on either side of the injured area and uses chakra to very carefully manipulate the surrounding tissues in order to remove the object without causing any further damage. Depending on the severity of the wound and nature of the object, it can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes to remove it.

This technique is considered passive and doesn't require a jutsu to use. In the future, you'll be able to use it in tandem with other techniques/methods you'll learn to fully treat a patient or yourself. Its time to treat a patient. This man was pierced by a wood-release kunai directly in his left forearm. The kunai protruded into mini senbo like a prickling bush. Depending on how the object is lodged inside, you may be able to use the technique and then pull it out with your hands, but most often than not, you'll solely use the manipulation of this technique. You will start by cupping and/or positioning your hands on either end of the wound's entry point, or simply the surface area which is affected. Needless to say, like any other medical procedure you should follow the necessary steps. Using your chakra, you will begin to manipulate the tissue as if it were a pumping muscle, carefully causing it to move around and slowly pull the wooden shrapnel out. Due to being unable to see the full scope and reach of the technique, you'll have to perform a method you are very familiar with. I'll leave you to it so you can experience it for yourself!
