Considering the size of our miniscule planet the size of the universe is mind boggling. It's all out there, new environments, different life, different whether,different smells and different textures.


I have always had a dream to explore the universe. It saddens me that I know I will probably never get to explore it. It's out there now... yet I can not reach it.

Even if the Grim reaper cuts me in one hundred years from now, the technology and the knowledge won't be good enough to travel safely or efficiently.



It is my belief that I probably get one shot at life and after I die it's just as it was before i was born, however in this time I am unable to explore something that should be explored.


Does it put you in a melancholy state ?

This is a more philosophical discussion than anything, so I don't know how to respond in a universal matter.

As for me, of course I am gonna be bumped that I won't get to see so much, but I think that the previous generations will also maybe give everything to see something just I saw. We aren't meant to see anything anyway, we are meant to become what we our in our time and that is what defines us. Maybe we were never meant to see those, maybe we will one day, maybe there is something to do after death....Life has still so many secrets, it is too early to make a straight judgement.

I'm hoping Warp Drive comes into play before i die so I can travel through the universe. However, even if that doesn't come into play, we always have various pictures that we get from the satellites. It's not the same but atleast it is something.

Look at this way, there are open world sandbox games out there and when people play it, they do fun, crazy , stupid and intelligent things. That is how I think our life should go, like a game. Do what thou wilt as you only get one go.

It is even theorized that Death is an illusion, so there are still so many things we have yet to know about us. Life might give us the chance to see everything, it might even be cruel and limit us to only what we can currently reach, but as I said, this is a philosophical topic, so everyone might think differently.

The only thing I can say for sure, is that we have yet to know about ourselves, let along the gigantic universe which covers us all. The flow of time and space, is what allows us to move forward, even while standing.

Though I've always believed these things are a matter of perspective- the more knowledge you have the more things your mind will open to and you will see things in different light that you were previously maybe missing, there is no point in going out if you are doing it with your eyes closed. First I wanna become 0% ignorant then when I have unraveled the mysteries of human beings and existence- the stuff that is right here, who knows then? Outer worlds might not even be that interesting anymore. Like if we invented wormholes, compared to setting off in a rocket to mars w/o them, space stuff would be right at our fingertips- so self development(of perspective) is number one priority. But that's just me I can't move on until I am done with the stuff at hand.

On a side note if you think what you wanted 5 years back, what you want now then what would you want in 5 years- that gives you an idea at the rate out mind changes and how we see things differently(the progress is exponential!) So I ain't drooling over space travel or anything yet, we(humans) are gonna have that as our ***** sooner or later we just have a LOT of not utilized potential- It's always a matter of when, never if(imo).

That is very true. We don't even know the tiniest fragment about life let alone the universe.


What proof is there that most of the knowledge you have is not made up? What proof is there that currently the real you is not on a chair hooked up to something which creates the life you have now, therefore this is all a very realistic dream... there doesn't seem to be any supporting or disproving it.


Most of the things we "know" are just things we believed from other people without witnessing the evidence ourselves.


Right now if scientists say " we truly think we can get to travel at the speed of light in 50 years or so " many people will believe it without any evidence as the people that stated that are hyped up and portrayed as very intelligent. That is a demonstration of the many things we "know " may actually be false.

Another thing to think about is why does life have to follow things we want? What if when you die you may actually go to hell wheather you are good or bad? Ever thought of that? Just because we want there to be a logical and a fair reason behind something doesn't mean it's going to have it.

If a maniac kills someone most like to go deep in his/her mind on why he/she did this expecting a complex answer. Can the the reason not be simple? Because he/she was bored.
What I am saying is that has it ever occured to you that just because we want good doesn't mean we will get it.?This applies to heaven and hell, even though I do not believe in either but for the sake of this discussion let's say they both exist. However just because we want life to be fair and judge us on things we have done what if everyone is put in hell anyway? Or what if the bad are put in heaven and the good are put in hell and the reason can be very simple and it can vary. How about the fact that the reason may be of same logic as a 5 year old child's. Of course we like to think that life(or God in this discussion) wouldn't be that stupid or unfair but remember wanting good isn't the same as getting good.

There is no reason why something bad can't happen to all of us when we die regardless of our behaviour right now.

This is the mystery of life. How subjective right and wrong can be, and how powerless and ignorant we are. All we can do for now, is try to adapt to the universe and this is it.

Furthermore I think so far in these replies no one has been wrong. Even though I have different opinions your idea makes sense a lot. If the 0% ignorance was to be applied then things would be different. If I was 0% ignorant maybe I wouldn't need the universe to entertain me for my thoughts would be unrivaled entertainment. It's seems we all have some philosophy in us here.
