Explanation of sasuke's limelight and naruto's shortcoming to cut god tree

This is simple. The juubi was smaller and now it expanded. It actually has a greater volume and the damage they are doing to it overall right now is rather small since it is more massive. In truth, sasuke's susanoo attack changes nothing. The juubi in its previous forms could resist its own bijuu dama at point blank. However, even if the situation is different, bijuu dama will certainly damage the branches of the god tree but it isn't hurting him much.

The juubi's defense is lowered but it has increased in size which changes nothing. Any attack will do the same damage but will look effective when it isn't.
