Relatively speaking,
Future Zamasu, his present timeline counterpart, got embarrassed by a ss2 Goku. not even on par, embarrassed. So his future self with no embarassed motivation I magine didn't get that much stronger. Only enough to keep up with SSB Goku/Vegeta movements but he had no actual strength to damage them. As noted several times it's merely his immortality that kept him in the fight.
Then for SSR Black, 1v1 I believe Goku could manage a win high diff. Kaio Ken Blue if nothing else. While Vegeta easily smashed on him in the final encounter. It's true he gained a boost afterwards with the scythe but if not for the random plot device of a dimensional rift with never ending smoke clones, vegeta would of won mid diff.
So when you merge zamasu and black, the power only mainly stems from black with the potara multiplier. Zamasu was just a cherry on top. & ultimately he weakened himself by diluting the immortality.
Compared to a stable(base form, two mortals) fusion between Goku and Vegeta then powered up to SSB. Vegito stomped, the real supreme. That power and time limit drawback makes it almost useless against a real threat.
Anyways,
As pointed out by one of the kais and Vegito, only half of his body is immortal. That's why after Vegito weakened his mortal half to death. (I'm convinced the purple slob is just his body being obliterated but still living due to being connected to his immortal half) so when trunks (who could already stand up to ssr black) gained another power boost(that bluish-green aura with the god ki particles) & then absorbed energy from everyone slashed the unstable weakened Zamasu in half. The mortal half died off due to already being dead and disconnected from the immortal side. & the immortal side still apart of a fusion body could not regenerate the mortal half so he died off too.
Miraculous. It's not the best writing but it's convoluted, you just have to connect the dots with a lighthearted approach because this is Dragonball.
