I'm here to explain why Obito attacked Konoha all those years ago
There are two main reasons
The first reason is that Obito wanted to decrease Konoha's military power and at the same time, he wanted to take control of the Fourth Hokage similarly to what he did to the Mist
Essentially, Obito wanted to become the 4th Hokage and wanted total control over Konoha so that way gathering tailed beasts would be easier
This is true because when Obito took over the Mist, he got the three tails but he couldnt seal it in the mazou because the sealing order has to be from 1-9
If u notice the fight between Minato and Obito, Obito's purpose was to kamui Minato into his dimension rather than kill him straight out
Obito could have killed him here but wanted to warp him
Why
He wanted Minato out of the way until Kurama was done demolishing Konoha because there was a time limit on how long Obito put his genjutsu on the beast
Obito couldnt use his genjutsu on Minato straight out because he already used his visual prowess on Kurama
So when Obito lifts his genjutsu off of Kurama, he could then go to his dimension and put Minato under a genjutsu
However, Obito underestimated Minato and was too cocky and reckless
If Obito succeeded, he would be the leader of Konoha and would be able to gather the tailed beasts more easily without Konoha's interference
The second reason is much deeper
Obito was really close to Minato and he had a clear purpose for fighting him
Obito viewed himself as trash as well as Kakashi because they both failed to keep their promises. Rin died in a tradegy and only Minato was left.
Out of everyone, Minato was free. He was able to achieve his dream (Hokage) and married the love of his life. He was the only one who truly did not suffer
Obito wanted to teach Minato. He wanted to teach him about pain and suffering. However, deep down, Obito wanted Minato to save him. Obito knew he had the puppet heart seal and couldn't commit suicide. Minato was the only person in the world who could stop Obito, but he failed
He had to fight Minato in order to get rid of his feelings as Obito Uchiha
In order to fully become Madara, he had to cut his ties as Obito Uchiha
Obito is a nihilist
Obito had to abandon the feelings he once had for his team so that he would have the strength to complete Madara's plan
Because any ounce of feelings he once had as his younger self, would ultimately lead him to regret the choices he made as the Masked Man, Tobi, Madara, etc (which he did)
Obito was able to remove his feelings for others because he knew in the end that when Infinite Tsukuyomi is achieved, he can bring everyone back and bring them to a world where there is no suffering; a world with only winners
Obito had this type of mindset and was fully committed to Madara's plan because he thought it was the best solution
However, Obito never let go of his feelings. He still loved and cherished his teammates, which is why he was able to conquer Kaguya
