I have noticed that this particular option doesn't get used a lot, it could actually be of use.

When the threads are moved from one section to another, users often complain that their thread is gone/deleted etc... Then they either create a whole new thread just to bring their issue or... You know the drill.

So, what do you guys think about leaving the expiring redirects? And it's not too much work either.
It'll somewhat help with clearing up the confusion without you having to tell each and every individual user that their thread has been moved to some other section. Hence, it will help lessening the unnecessary complaints (even if a little).

You just have to click "view my threads" or update the original thread url and it redirects auto.
If not, means the thread is deleted.
It's about the convenience.
While I'm aware of those two options that you have mentioned, a lot of the users either don't bother to check them or they are new. So, the expiring redirects can work in favor of both of the parties, users as well as mods.

It's even posted in the global rules and the FAQ that you're not even supposed to make threads about where you're threads are so they have to suit themselves for not bothering to read the rules.

Creating threads like it are considered spam and will be treated as such.

I am not saying that I disagree with what you are saying.

Despite the rules and the obvious options, users still make such threads.
Even if you consider them spam, that is more completely unnecessary work for the moderators to put up with, when you can easily put an end to the entire issue by simply leaving an expiring redirect.

Changing a certain way of dealing with stuff, which has been followed for I don't know how long, doesn't mean the management is bad. But there is always a room for improvement. And when there is a more efficient way availabl to handle a certain task, then why not adopt the change? It'll only work in favor of NB, not something that will make it worse.
