Ok so this half a joke thread just so you know to not take it too seriously, I'm not gonna start commiting crimes and telling people that it's ok because good and evil are the same.

Anyway.

This is the theory.

We are all evil people. But we pretend to be good people.

This is because evil is just an opinion not a fact, and what is seen as evil might change depending on the time.

What was tolerable 100 years ago is not tolerable today.

And probably 100 years in the future we will look at things differently as well.

So basically, we all strive to be good people, maybe the only reason is because of dignity, or maybe that's too cynical.

But we are all limited by the scope of teh culture we currently live in. So even though we claim to be good people we are all part of evil doings that are acceptable by today's standards.

And we add logic to the evil which makes it even more powerful and dangerous because when we add logic too it, then it becomes not just tolerable but we start to believe it's not evil, and we start to justify it.

I was thnking about the Liam Neeson story where he went after someone cus of revenge thoughts.

And there was this guy Sam Harris who said it wasnt racist because he targeted any group associated with the crime, it wasn't about race.

HOWEVER, imo Judaism isn't a race either and that doesn't stop people from thinking Adolf was a bad person.

Maybe racism is never teh source of racism.

Maybe racism stems from a world view that is actually considered "normal".

And because it's normal we don't look twice at it, because if we did we would get shut down with arguments and all of that.

But because it's considered rational and sane that only leads us to delve deeper into this evil without us ever knowing it really is evil.

What if all of those evil deeds are part of our normal every day lives and culture?

We can argue against evil but we can't argue against it when it is under the disguise of sanity and normlalcy. We think it's good, we still want to do bad things we just don't want to be seen as bad people.

What if Adolf never was that controversial in his time? He just acted on natural progressions of thoughts and logic that were considered tolerable in his day?

The more we disregard our emotions maybe the more susepticle we become to being blind towards actual danger.

But at the same time maybe there is nothing we can do about it, right now we are killing the planet with CO2.

But if we stopped doing that we wouldn't be able to live in a modern society.

So perhaps evil is unavoidable, to the point we cover it up, with logical arguments and bullshit excuses, so really evil and good are the same. Just different opinions pulls them apart.

I kinda agree. Everything in the world was made up from an idea that stemmed. Language and words are just a bunch of scribbles going straight and in circles. I'm not saying to hurt others, because never hurt anybody, but I see dogs or cats eat their own kids. Our rules and system is just made up, which is good so nobody eats their kids LOL

I would not say that evil and good are the same thing. Like you said "What was tolerable 100 years ago is not tolerable today" and that is gonna be true until the end of time. Maybe in 100 or so years, racism is ok and all people hate dogs for some reason.

There is also the thing about rules. If the people creating the rules are bad people and they create these rules to make other people "bad" then for us it's bad but not for them. For them it's perfectly fine and is normal. Like right after world war one, Hitler said that Jews where evil cause he accused them of starting world war one or then it was because the Germans lost. I can't remember which one it is. Hitler put out all of these propaganda posters and stuff to make most of the people in Germany hate Jews. For them it was totally normal but for the rest of the world, it was wrong.

I'm afraid that we can't see what's bad today.
That we are all doing things that are wrong but we believe they aren't. And that at the same time as something is wrong it can be considered tolerable anyway cus it's just part of life.
