[Discussion] Ever thought about it this way?

Since there exists only one fruit of an ability.
What if more than one person decides to share and eat the same devil fruit?
what will be the case?
1) Will all of them acquires the power of the DF?
2) The various powers which can be obtained by the DF gets distributed?
3) Nothing happens?
4) They die?

The first one who takes a bite attains the powers of the fruit, after that it becomes an ordinary bad tasting fruit

I imagine something like that will be introduced (or explained) later on but I believe that once the first person consumed it the ability is gone from that fruit and basicly passed into the one who ate it.

You can say "oh what if two people eat it at the same time" but it would all result in who digests it first and such and in the end even if it was all in that same second it would probably be randomized lel

who say they do? only I remember who ate it completetly is Luffy but it's just because he is greedy and eats anything

Buggy also ate the whole fruit.

if someone plans on sharing the food then idk what will happen, it might have been explained in manga which i can't recall.

Maybe its like this, a person can't eat 2 DFs , if he does, he will die.
Two person can't eat one DFs , if they do, they die.

Blackbeard is an exception.

The two people from CP9 also ate the whole fruit but they ate it piece by piece. I asked the same thing and the general consensus was only the first bite transfers power.

Yeah I agree or there will be a split in power. As long as it's balanced, I will love it!

If I recall correctly Oda expalained it once in an SBS he said something along the lines of whoever takes the first bite or whoever eats the most of it.

Anyways, only 1 person can have the fruit ability.

Why do people still eat the whole thing ? Because there is a lot unknown about devil fruits probably. Jyabura thought he would explode if he came near a second one.

I don't have a source, I know it was in an sbs and related to CP9 because around that time this question was answered.
