damn this episode was really great. but Boruto makes me cringe, and they really, really need to change his design because he looks weird

aside from that Metal Lee was awesome, and judging from his fighting I think he is the son of Lee and Tenten LOL. the Nara family was hilarious, "what a drag" xD. but tbh Shikadai is just a copy-paste of Shikamaru..

and it was confirmed that the new Doujutsu is related to the Byakugan, so Hyuga haters can just stfu now :lol

Obviously because Boruto doesn't know how to use it's ability to see Tenketsu yet. He doesn't even know that he has a doujutsu, it's not like he already knows how to use it's abilities. :lol

When you activate your Dojutsu, you don't learn how to 'see' with it. The Dojutsu sight is instantanous upon the manifestation of the eye.

I don't mind him being gay. In fact Boruto x Mitsuki is waaay better than Boruto x Sarada XD

Boruto x Sarada is a forced concept to me. And I'm not trying to trigger Indra or anyone who is strictly against gay stuff but Boruto being gay would at least be something new to this character. To me he is Naruto 2.0 like 100%!

In terms of personality - Boruto is seen not really caring about wanting to become a shinobi, but his parents, expect him to join the academy like everyone else. Unlike his father who strived to show everyone around him that he was worth something, that he was important, and that he was strong. Boruto doesn't care about needing to prove himself to those who ridicule him, as seen in Episode 2 when those children were calling Boruto out for being the Hokage's son. Boruto only steps in to defend his friends, and just the general person who is being picked on. We see this twice when Boruto saves Denki from the bullies in Episode 1, and when Iwabee is hurting Denki in Episode 2. To me, this is how they 'define' Boruto as cool. Because Boruto does not care about their words, because he knows who he is.

I shouldn't have to get into the future references though, cheater/lazier Bolt speaks wonders.

Cocky? Check

There's a difference between being cocky, and just being over zelaous. Naruto never wanted to admit that he was inferior to anyone, Boruto on the other hand, doesn't spout that he's stronger or above anyone else. But he has pride because he knows he's talented.

Loud? Check

Er, not really is the case either. Boruto is outspoken like his father, but he isn't rash with his decisions. At the same time, he doesn't speak what he feels or rushes towards that kind of emotion. That's one of the underlying differences even Kishimoto stated in an Interview about their characters.

Not interested in school? Check

Where was Naruto not interested in school? He was trying to become the Hokage, but he didn't like studying.

Oversleeps alot? Check

Not surprised you missed this one either. Boruto didn't oversleep, if you actually watched the episode, Boruto stated that he slept late on purpose so that he could ride the train and have an easy academy life without any worries.

Skipping classes?? Check

Where has Boruto skipped classes?

Shadow Clone? Check

Strategic uses of the shadow clone, can't make thousands, and uses shuriken jutsu /w speed + taijutsu combinations. And just started the academy.

Boruto doesn't care about being a shinobi, in as of now he doesn't have a goal. In the future though, he wants to become a support system for the Hokage, following in his Master's footsteps.

Boruto is a Ninja Prodigy; Talented and far smarter than his father at his age.

One of the biggest defining differences from Boruto (and other characters too), is that he just plainly gives up when he doesn't think he can go through with something all the way.

Boruto is extremely lazy, to where he doesn't like to train at all. This also accumulates to school.

Boruto doesn't care when someone ridicules him, he doesn't get in their face.

Boruto's fighting style is a lot more refined than his father, relying on strategy and ninja tools, because he lacks large reserves to spam shit without thinking.

And since you were taking about their styles, I think the fact that Boruto unlocked his own Dojutsu (Something Naruto never obtained), and a Mark (or Curse Seal?) separates them further.

Can you tell me how any of this is 'Naruto' -- I wouldn't say most of this is unique, but rather, most of their characters are either combinations of their parents. Or just opposites of their parents. Boruto being the latter.

I think people don't really give Kishimoto (or the writers) their worth out sometimes, especially with Bolt in that regard. Most of Naruto's prominent qualities, they switched it around, or made him different altogether.

Even where they are alike, it's kind of different circumstances because Naruto grew up one way, and Boruto acts a certain way because of another reason.

But like, when I think of Naruto: I go straight to hard-worker, someone who isn't lazy, who has strong beliefs, and wants to become Hokage.

When I think of Boruto: I go straight to how he cheated in the Chunin Exams, how he disliked training to the extent of not working hard at all, who doesn't really believe in anything, and later on decides he wants nothing to do with the Hokage path.

Honestly they established him pretty well, at least in direct comparison to the other kids who are literal copies of their parents, or just combination of their parents. In Bolt's case, I don't think he's really much like Hinata or Naruto, but he's definitely more Naruto than that 1% of Hinata he might have.
