There are 3 phases right? One phase per month would turn out to be 12 if that was the case

I thought there's 4...

- One for Written Test
- Similar to Forest of Death this time it's something called Desert of hell
- Preliminary Match up
- Finally Tournament

I really can't imagine them wasting 4 episodes just for the writting part, no matter how you look at it is impossible.

There are multiple plot lines going on, so every episode isn't necesssarily part of any exam. Like 394 wasn't, and next week 395 seems to be more focused on character introductions and Kakashi's investigation. 396-397 are probably the bulk of phase 1.

Akatsuki will also show up of course, but we can't say how much screen time they will get.

Well you said "one phase per month" and so I thought you meant that the episodes would completely focus on the chunin exam and that alone.

Yeah it definitely looks like this is going past 12 episodes (3 months) so I can see this going up to May or early June seeing how they're going to stretch out each exam.
